The smile on my girls faces was enough to numb the pain, for a couple seconds at least. The second Izzy yelled for my mum I was enveloped in hugs. Anna and Izzy jumping on me and mum jumping on top of them.
"Harry I'm so happy you're okay" Mum was the first one to speak. A large smile on her face as she looked down at me, happy tears flowing down her face.
"Yeah. Say something so we know your brain still works" Anna said leaning over me and grabbing my face.
"His brain never worked Anna" Izzy cut in as she plopped down on the couch in front of the bed. A smug smile playing on her lips as she watched us.
"Screw you" The words felt harsh as they came out of my mouth, like it was slicing through my throat. They must've noticed how hoarse I sounded because not even two seconds later I was handed a cup of water.
"At least we know his attitude hasn't changed"
"Yeah he's still a snarky asshole"
"Must you two always act like twins?" Izzy gladly flipped me off as she leaned back in the chair. No matter how much banter we had I was still grateful that they were here. Yet I was still confused as to why I'm here exactly. "What happened?" Mum looked down at me sadly before looking back at Izzy. Izzy furrowed her eyebrows slightly as she looked between Mum and I. That was a clear face of confusion, but since I know her so well I'll just say that's her natural face.
"You were in a car accident honey" Just as mum finished her sentence it was like my mind was on replay. I could remember fighting with Diana and then beginning my drive home, I remember the car flipping a couple times, but that was it. Everything after that was a blur. "You've been out for a couple days"
"How many days?"
"Almost a week" Mum mumbled her side eyes looking towards the floor. My breathing accelerated slightly as I took in the information. I've been out for about a week, that's almost seven days.
"Where's Diana?" The words tasted dry as they came out of my mouth. Sad faces mirroring around the room as no one spoke. It was obvious that she wasn't here, but I wasn't ready to accept that fact. It killed me inside knowing that I almost died - literally - and she wasn't here for me. "She never came. Did she?" I felt like crying, but it seemed at this point I was dumb to it. Diana didn't care about me and it's about time I figure that out.
"She came the first day - and the second day, but after the doctors informed us you'd be just fine she left" Mum was treading lightly, I could feel it. Treating me as if I would burst at any moment, but I wouldn't. Diana chose to be like this towards me and it's time I start acting like a man. If she doesn't want to be with me fine. No matter how much it hurt I had to at least try to work through it.
"In better news" Anna said quickly jumping in. Desperate to change the sad mood this room had just been enveloped in. "The doctors said you'll be here for a week or two for physical therapy and then after that you'll be back to regular Harry"
