Frost to fire and Fire to frost (Sequel to the Protectors)

I cannot give you what you seek

Weeks had passed since Roselen had become queen and already the kingdom of Storm-hold had flourished under her reign, another thing that had flourished was the friendship between Roselen and Sam when the Queen wasn't busy with council meetings or tending to matters in the kingdom she and Sam spent almost every spare moment together. But deep down Sam knew that nothing more could ever happen between him and Queen Roselen and it deeply saddened him, on a cool summers evening Sam and Roselen were walking through the royal gardens they stopped by the fountain and watched as the reflection of the moon danced on the water. 

Roselen leaned her head against Sam's right shoulder and said 'The mountains look so beautiful at this time of night, don't you think' Sam nodded in agreement and said 'They do don't they. Roselen there's something I need to say', Roselen smiled and said 'Go on then'. Sam took a deep breath and said 'I really like you in fact I love you more than the moon and stars, but I know nothing can happen between us. I cannot give you what you seek', Roselen's heart broke right then and there she backed away slowly from Sam before turning on her heels and running back inside. 

Mitchell watched from his balcony as his brother broke down in the royal gardens, he grabbed his cloak from the bed and walked down to the gardens where he found Sam sat on the edge of the fountain. Mitchell sat down beside his brother and said 'Why did you tell her, that nothing can happen between you and her' Sam looked at his reflection in the water and said 'Because nothing can happen between us, anyway I'm going to bed'. 

Whilst the kingdom of Storm-hold slept Sam packed a few of his belongings and made his way down to the stables, he grabbed Silvers Saddle and Bridle and saddled his horse up and lead him out into the courtyard where he climbed on and rode through the lower town and out through the gates into the wild. The next morning Mitchell woke to go and check on Sam he knocked on his brother's bedroom door and waited for a reply, when he didn't get one he walked in and found that Sam wasn't there but his Owl Nero was still perched on the gold stand in the corner.

Mitchell ran from Sam's room to Perri's room he walked in and said 'Sam's gone, he's taken some of his stuff' Perri grabbed his cloak and said 'I was going to tell him this morning that I give my blessing for him and Roselen, this is all my fault I'm going to go and find him'. Sam felt like he'd been riding for days, as he reached the top of the mountains he stopped Silver and looked back over his shoulder at the kingdom of Storm-hold as he rode down the other-side of the mountain a group of the destroyers forces ambushed him. 

Silver reared up causing Sam to fall over the back of her he scurried backwards as Silver dashed past him heading back the way they'd come, Sam drew his twin axes and took down as many of the destroyers forces as he could. However he didn't see the soldier come up behind him and punch him right in the side of the head, Sam fell on the edge of the cliff as the destroyer appeared and walked towards him he crouched down beside Sam and said 'You really have been a thorn in my side, you'll die first and then the rest will fall. The agony you feel you'll be glad when death comes'. 

The destroyer poured a vial of poison down Sam's throat before pushing him off the cliff with his foot, Perri was approaching the mountains when he saw Silver come charging down the hill towards him Perri quickly jumped down from his horse and held his hands up as he said 'Woah easy boy calm down, where's Sam Silver'. Silver ran off into the tree's and Perri quickly followed after him, when Perri finally caught up with Silver he found him stood next to Sam's semi conscious body Perri ran to him and said 'Sam what happened' Sam looked at Perri and said 'The destroyer he attacked me, Poison'. 

Sam coughed violently and a black foam bubbled from his lips, Perri gripped Sam's right hand and said 'Sam stay with me, you can't die Roselen needs you'. Sam coughed again before saying 'It's best I go Perri, I know I'm not good enough for you daughter' Perri held his hands over Sam's heart until a white light shone around them at which point Perri looked up at the sky and said 'What grace has given me let it pass to him, let him be spared. Save him'. 

Roselen was stood on her balcony when Perri arrived back at Storm-hold with Sam, she ran down to the courtyard and said 'You found him, is he alright' Perri helped Ashley carefully take Sam from the saddle before saying 'The destroyer poisoned him, but I think I found him just in time'. Roselen sighed with relief and said 'Bring him to my room'. 

Sam lay in bed for two days and two nights and on the third the fever left his body and he finally started to recover, Sam slowly opened his eyes and saw the Queen sat beside he smiled and said 'Your here' Roselen smiled as-well and said 'Of-course I am where else would I be, I'm so sorry this happened to you'. Sam shook his head and said 'You have nothing to be sorry for, it was my decision to run off. I was an idiot before I do love you and nothing should come between that, I just don't know if you feel the same way', Roselen kissed Sam's right hand and said 'I didn't think I would love anyone after loosing Eric, but I do feel the same way I truly do love you Sam'. 

Sam pushed aside the pain and sat up before saying 'Can I kiss you my Queen' Roselen nodded and said 'I was hoping you'd ask that', Sam leaned in and kissed Roselen passionately on the lips.
