I bit down on the eraser that was on the end of my pencil and stared at the blank paper sprawled out in front of me, quite certain that everything I could have produced with my late night creativity would without a doubt be a waste of time. It wasn't as if I had anything really to write about. I rarely ever got into trouble, and when I went out with friends, they did the same thing every night. Drive around town and sometimes end up finding ourselves making our way to a movie.

My life was often boring, but it was simple and I didn't mind it at all. It gave me more time to focus on the last two weeks of my senior year school work. Or what I could actually focus on that is. It would be easier if I could figure out what to write for this paper. though. "Write about anything that's exciting in your life right now and where you see yourself in five years from here, hand it in tomorrow afternoon." Is all that Miss Edwards said before dismissing the class for the day. It wasn't a tough assignment, but it wasn't easy either.

I thought to myself hard, nothing coming to mind. Since I couldn't figure out anything to write about my boring life, I decided to try writing the second part of it. Where do I see myself in five years? She thought. How am I supposed to know where I see myself in five years when I can't even see what I'm going to be doing tonight?

Hopeless. I groaned in aggravation and tossed my pencil onto the wooden table and sighed, running my hand through my mangled hair. I couldn't focus on the assignment, I was bored and felt restless. I decided to just ignore the assignment and do something else to occupy myself for the time being. My head was unable to stay on the thought of one thing so I decided to occupy herself with something fun. Besides, she had an A in English anyway, not handing in one assignment wasn't going to condemn her in anyway whatsoever really.

I reached into my jeans pocket and pulled out my phone, quickly dialing a familiar number. I held it up to my ear momentarily until I heard a voice on the other end.

"Hey Lauren, what's up?" My best friend Samantha said cheerfully.

"Hey, I can't focus on this assignment. Let's go downtown and do something." I pursued, hoping my friend would agree to going into town with her.

"Oh I finished that earlier and now I have nothing to do. I'll be at your house in a few." Sam answered back, quickly hanging up her end of the phone.

I hung up my phone and slid it back into my pocket, quickly standing up from the kitchen chair and bolting up the stairs to my bedroom, reaching for my brush and running it through my blonde hair as quickly and delicately as I could. I then put on a small amount of red lipstick before grabbing her white vans from beside my maroon colored dresser and making my way back down the stairs, slipping them on my feet as I made my way towards the front door.

I jumped when I heard the familiar sound of the horn from Sam's jeep, signalling that she was there and she was waiting.

I opened the front door and shut it behind me, waving to Sam as I made my way towards the car. She swung the door open for me, and I slid into the passenger seat, slamming the door behind me.

"Hey." Sam said, a smile etched on her face. "So I know you won't like this idea but I was thinking we could go get something to eat and maybe head to a party tonight." She said slowly, letting her sentence lightly fade out as she put the car into drive and pulled out of the narrow driveway.

I looked at her with wide eyes and parted her lips, surprised. "Seriously? Sam, you know I don't like parties. Especially on school nights."

Sam nodded her head in a understanding way as she turned the corner. "Yea I know, but there's only two weeks of senior year left and you haven't gone to a single party. Besides, your parents are home until next weekend right? So you can do whatever you want without being caught." She said cheerfully, glancing at Lauren with a smile on her face. "Come on Laur, just this once. For me, please? If you don't like it then we can leave, I promise."
