The moons shined above the ship as it sloshed through the waves. 7 people were sitting on this ship. 6 of those people seemed to be celebrating. "Tonight is a time for celebration!" The captain cried. His Blue bandana waving in a soft breeze. The 2 men yelled. "Yes! Yes! We have been waiting all year!" The three women nodded, their blue bandanas tied around their necks. One girl didn't speak. She sat on a bench. Her silvery dress was dirty from ship-work, but she smiled weakly. Land! She thought, finally time to get off of our ship! The girl looked at the sky and then spoke. "Father, what are we going to do on land?" Her voice was soft and sing-songy. The captain smiled at his daughter. "You are a bright one Angie," He said in his loud voice, as he was used to talking over large breezes, and thunderstorms. "We are going to find Aspen Grove." Angie looked at her father, a confused look on her light brown face. "What is that?" The Captian smiled his crooked grin, and started to sing, "There once was a young pirate named Laddie!" His tune was off, but he made it work. "eye ey!" The crew shouted. "He came from Main Mattie!" Angie had heard stories of the sacred pirate place, where you would be safe if you were a pirate or a pirate in training. While her father kept singing his song, Angie studied the island from the three moon's light. It seemed larger than many of the other islands that the Pirates had visited. She saw a large aspen tree in the distance, maybe even seeing its sprouts. There was no flag claiming the island, and one of the crew members seemed to notice too. "No Flag!" She shouted. Angie nodded. "There is no flag on the island." She whispered in her sing-song voice.
The pirates put down their anchor at the shore. The captain sent Missy and Latice to do some exploring. Angie had wanted to go, but the Captain said "Another time, little lassy, another time." Angie couldn't wait to explore, and she hoped that it would be soon.
