The room was dark and cold. He could feel the sharp tug of the manacles on his wrists, keeping his arms bound above his head while his body hung limp above the floor. His captor had kept him awake, not allowing him a single moment of comfort or even a tiny amount of food or water. Disoriented, he tried to estimate how long he had been in this room. Days? Weeks? There was no way to tell. He was still trying to figure it out when his eyes were struck with an intense light. "Wake up, Doc. Weve got a lot to talk about."

The Doctor raised his eyes just in time to see the Supervisor pick a remote off the floor and press a large red button. Immediately, all the muscles in his body clenched up and he felt himself thrash around; his mouth open in a silent scream of agony. Just as suddenly as it came, it went away and he collapsed again, suspended by the chains. "We don't have to keep this up, you know. All you have to do is admit what you did was wrong and turn her over if you see her again."

The Doctor raised his head up to meet the Supervisor's beady black eyes. "What I did was my job. As a Doctor and a human being. You wouldn't-AAAH!"

He gasped and frantically tried to move away from the Supervisors fingers digging into the wound in his chest. "YOU committed heresy and treason! You betrayed us! For some dirty bitch? FOR ONE OF THEM? What is wrong with you?" He tore his fingers out of the Doctor and shook his head in disbelief. "I thought that you would've seen reason by now. I thought you would be sorry for hurting us. But you're not giving me a choice."

The Supervisor reached into a small black bag and pulled out a syringe filled with a sickly green fluid. "You're going to be corrected. And you're going to hate them, just like youre supposed to."

Before the Doctor could say anything, he jabbed the needle into his neck and pressed the plunger all the way down. He could feel the frigid drug pass into his veins, pulsing through his body. He began to feel queasy as images and sounds tore through his mind from the days before: the blaring of the alarm clock, the creatures claws ripping open his chest, the Womans eyes as she came close to him, his trembling hand looting the vial from its chamber. The Doctor desperately tried to stay focused, but the flood of images overwhelmed him just before he felt the electricity surge through his body.

4 Days Before Capture

The Doctor hated alarm clocks. He understood the need for them, of course, but there was something about a loud noise yanking you out of a comfortable slumber that made him want to smash the damn thing and go back to bed. Despite this, he reluctantly rolled out from beneath his sheets, hit the snooze button, and went to get dressed. Outwardly, he seemed alright: above-average build, dark brown hair, and sharp green eyes made him look healthy enough. But in truth, he was just plain exhausted. What was it they used to call it? I feel dead inside. He chuckled for a moment, then brewed his coffee for the day. The Doctor was going to have to pull an extra three hours at the hospital tonight and he would need every ounce of it to stay awake. Then again, he supposed he shouldn't be complaining. After that recent influenza outbreak, he would be needed at the lab to check and recheck every sample received to make sure that no one would go without treatment. It wasn't anyones fault really, these things just happened. But there were those rumors. That this virus had somehow been smuggled from outside the Dominion. By them.

Getting out of the neighborhood was easy enough. The Doctor had left home early in the hopes of missing the typical morning traffic. Even though he went over 100 miles an hour on the superway, it would still be another 10 minutes before he arrived. He reached over to the screen on the right-hand side and logged into the Network. After the typical intro ad (Balanced News, provided by the People! Be the first to Hear the Truth!), the Speaker started talking about the recent outbreak.

"The Department of Health and Human Services issued a statement today congratulating its members on their continued diligence in combating the recent flu outbreak and reassured the Dominion that this was a natural occurrence. This is despite rumors surrounding the outbreak that it might have been released by the southern regime calling themselves The Haven."
