(Imaged Above: Amber Roselake and Alyssa Barron)
Chapter 8: "Love, Alyssa"
"1950" By King Princess
"So, Alyssa, rumor has it you're single now?" The crowd erupted as Ellen had asked me. I know I was on my way to becoming a gay icon, but I was nothing compared to the queen. "Uh, yes I am." And the crowd screamed even more. My cheeks were growing even redder as I sat uncomfortably in those blue chairs being interview by the one the only Ellen. My publicist had urged me to wear something a bit classier. I was in literal slacks. "So since you're back on the dating market, any special ladies?" The crowd was oooing. I couldn't believe I had just announced to the world that Violet and I had broken up. But I mean the truth had to come out at some point. I was just so uncomfortable about everything. My publicist had couched me on certain things on what to say and what to not say but it didn't matter. I was still sweating like a pig up there.
"Uh, no not really. Just kind of feeling everything out. If it happens you know? But I'm just trying to move on and everything. But in other news, I just bought a new house with my brothers and were really excited to move in soon." I scratched my head. The crowd awed. I felt a bit better about that. I wasn't sure I handled that properly. "Wow all the 'Miles for Violets' couples are breaking up! Alyssa Barron and Violet Thompson. Amber Roselake and Richard Starley! Let's hope all is well to Zach Riley and Kassandra Ren." News had just hit about Amber's break up too. I'm sure she was getting lots of questions about that too.
I was getting ambushed about Violet. What happened? Why'd you guys break up? Does she love someone else? Do you love someone else? I just said we were too different people who wanted two different things. Which is true. That's what my publicist said to say anyways. She was so smart about these kinds of things. Apparently, Amber said something similar about Richard. Nobody knew the other reason though. If that got out who knew how the world would react.
"You have such pretty eyes you know that, right?" Amber had her fingers in my hair and was slowly pulling them lightly through it. "I literally have brown eyes. How can that be pretty?" I chuckled. "Yours are blue that's a lot more interesting than brown." I giggled as she still toyed with my hair. We were in her bed together. It was around ten in the morning as our legs were entangled with each others and we giggled as we grinned. Lost in each other's eyes each brushing against each other's skin lightly. "No, way I think your brown eyes are so beautiful." "They're like mud, Amber." "No, they're like walnuts or teddy bears or chocolate ice cream." "Well, yours are like oceans, flowers or the sky." I cupped her cheek with my hand as I rubbed my thumb across it. I watched her blush grow underneath my hand. We were just admiring each other so calmly. Life hadn't felt this still in a while. Like there was no background noise at all.
"I've missed you so much, Alyssa. I really have." "I've missed you too, Amber." I smiled as I rested our foreheads together. Getting a closer look into her eyes. Her lips stumbled as her eyes shook inside of mine. "I-uh, I wish I had never left." She reached her hand onto my arm. My heart just about skipped a beat. "Amber..." I trailed off. "What? I mean it." She cupped my cheek. "I would have had you for all this time." "But then you would have never met Richard. And I know how much he means to you." She gulped at my sentence. "I feel like we needed this time apart. We were fighting when we left and now, we're-" "Good as new." She smiled as she stroked my arm up and down with her finger tips. I slowly traced her skin with mine up and down her side. Yet our eyes never left each other's. "Mmhmm. You know what? Never mind. I think I was wrong about your eyes." I laughed at her being this close. "Really now?" "Yeah, I think they remind me of a Smurf or like Dorey from Finding Nemo!" "Shut up!" She playful hit me.
"I'm kidding I'm kidding." She pulled me back into her gaze as she smiled uncontrollably at me. "As our laughter fades, we enter each other's eyes. Butterflies swarm as I drown in blue. Gravity betrays me as I fall in deeper. As you fall further into my heart." Amber's cheeks turned bright red at my words. "Which wise poet said that, Alyssa?" "Daniel Scarsazay our crackhead screenwriter." Amber and I both broke out laughing. "He seriously wrote that?" She couldn't believe it. "Have you not read the next part of the script? That's my line in one of the next couple of scenes we film. And I'm almost certain he is an actual crackhead I saw him smoking like a month and half ago out front. The guy was so damn jittery." "That's the next part of the script? I need to get started on it. It looked like a hand out. It must only have like five scenes in it! How is this movie going to end?" "He really needs to get himself together." "Tell me about it." She rested her head back down on the pillow and soon enough we were in tranced by each other yet again.
