"OH MY GOD!!! Isn't that the college's heartthrob, the one and only, our hero, Kartik? How can someone be so good looking!!!!" gushed the girls, as a young, handsome man entered the college in his bike. Just when he entered the college, his friends ran to him, and he flashed them a genuine smile immediately. The moment the girls saw his smile, they felt like they would faint any moment. Well, even if anyone said that "charming" or "dashing" was his middle name, everyone would have agreed to that.

Kartik Goenka
"Long time, buddy! How are you?" asked his friend Vivaan, while Kiran simply punched his biceps and spoke," Oye! Kaha so gaya tha itne dino tak (where had you been sleeping for so long)?" Kartik laughed hearing him and said," Ghar pe, buddhu! Aur kaha sou?( in my home, stupid! Where else will I sleep?) He then spoke seriously, " Dadi wasn't well guys. And you know how much Dadi means to me, don't you?" That's when his friend Aashi kept her hand on his shoulder and said, " It's Okay, KG. We can understand. How's Dadi now?" Kartik only smiled in answer, to which everyone sighed in relief. Dadi was Kartik's life. He did love his parents, uncle, aunt, his siblings and cousins.....but nothing matched the level of love that the senior most Goenka and her first grandson shared.
The four were chatting and walking to their class, when a soft voice called Kartik from behind, " Kartik? Is that you?" Hearing the voice, the three friends wiggled their eyebrows at Kartik, while he only glared at them playfully. Turning around, he smiled and said, " Vedika? Did you want to say something?" To which the young girl replied, " No no.....actually Maa said that Dadi ji isn't well. That's why I came to ask about her. How is she now?" Kartik was touched by her concern for his family. He smiled and told her that Dadi was fine now. Seeing his response, Vedika sighed in relief, smiled happily and went off to her class.
Vivaan was the first one to speak. Smiling, he said, " Don't you find her sweet? I mean she hasn't become a part of the Goenka family yet, but she is so concerned about them. I must say K, it was really sweet of Dadi to have found you a good wife." Everyone nodded their heads in affirmative, while Kartik only gave a small smile.
He and Vedika had been engaged ever since they turned 16. Vedika's father was a close friend of Kartik's father, Manish Goenka, while his mother Swarna was the best friend of Vedika's mother. He couldn't remember when was the time he had not known her. A few days before his 15th birthday, Vedika's father was diagnosed with lung cancer, final stage. His last wish was to see his daughter happy. That's why, Dadi had promised him that soon after Kartik and Vedika would graduate, she would get them married, and to prove her words, she got them engaged a few days after the two turned 16. Vedika had always been close to the Goenkas. She was shy and quiet, just the way Dadi would have wanted the daughter-in-law of the Goenkas to be. She was good in studies, and never raised her voice. To be honest, she was pretty as well. Kartik definitely didn't have any problem in accepting her as his fiance and future wife.

Vedika Kapoor
Three years after their engagement, Kartik had decided to date her. He would be spending his entire life with her, so he felt it necessary that they should know each other. Initially, Vedika was worried thinking that the elders won't like it. But on Kartik's assurance, she agreed. And so, here they were. While it was plainly obvious that Vedika liked him a lot, Kartik had gradually started feeling the same.
