Song: Hypnotic - Vanic Remix, Zella Day
---------------------------------------------------------
I wake up earlier the next morning with dark shadows underneath my eyes. I'm exhausted after a long night of dreams replaying the events of the meadow. Bakugo's triumphant eyes, his seductive grin, his body on top of mine - about to kiss me...
"UGH!" I slap my hand to my forehead. "Fucking snap out of it Y/N!"
Mindlessly I go through the motions of getting ready: brushing my teeth, applying some light make-up, and pulling on a nice-looking, but comfortable outfit.
I can't focus - I feel like I've been hypnotized...
I pop in my earbuds as I head out the door, lock it, and make my way towards the cafe Shoto and I like to hang out at.
I called Shoto back last night after leaving the field and explained a shortened version of what happened. Thankfully he forgave me for bailing on him, but he demanded I fill him in on the full story.
I can't get Bakugo out of my head! I am such an idiot for thinking that what happened meant anything. He didn't even know my name, and I just assume that he wants to kiss me?! Who the hell does that?
I mentally scold myself all the way to the cafe. Reaching the store front, I see Shoto seated at our normal booth in the window. He looks up and we acknowledge each other as I walk in and join him. Shoto looks at me with his unreadable expression. However years of being with him can't fool me.
Ah shit, he's still mad.
"Look, I'm sorry I lost track of time yesterday..." I begin subconsciously rubbing my wrists.
"I noticed. I already ordered our drinks, I got your usual. Save your apologies and tell me what actually happened. You said something about getting into a fight?" Shoto asks, taking note of my tell-tale nervous tic.
"Yeah well I kinda know him, I guess. We met, well not really met, but saw each other at the UA entrance exam. His name is Bakugo Katsuki and he is so fucking rude. A light blush trails up my cheeks unable to stop myself from recalling his appearance.
- and so fucking hot.
"...and he's 'so fucking hot' right?" Shoto casually guesses my thoughts. He leans his cheek on his hand as he studies my flustered expression. "You have never really blushed like this over anyone Y/N..." He continues, a dangerous glint flashing in his eyes.
The waitress drops off our drinks. Taking a quick sip I steal myself for telling my tale.
"Ok ok ok-ay! See what had happened was..." I proceeded to tell Shoto about the events of yesterday. I avoid telling him about how Bakugo pinned me against a tree, and that almost/not-really kiss.
It still bothers me that I thought he was going to kiss me. He must have seen me close my eyes and everything! >.< So embarrassing!
I am beet red by the time I finish my story and sweat drop as Shoto studies my expression. Unfortunately for me knowing each other well from childhood goes both ways.
"You are not the best at hiding things Y/N." Shoto sighs, "Let me ask you one thing - what was his quirk?"
"Actually I never saw it. Before we began our skirmish, Bakugo made a rule not to use our quirks." I reply, "why do you ask?"
"I have a hunch but it is too early to tell, either way I think it would be best for you to avoid this guy as much as possible." Shoto states closing his eyes, his hands clasped in front of his mouth.
"Oh well it's not like I try to find trouble, trouble finds me!" I huff back at him. "You don't have to worry though...It was clear he didn't want to see me again either."
"Still can't believe he beat you in the fight." Shoto says casually.
A tch-mark forming on my forehead, "I would have won had I not been caught off guard!" I snap back. "I'll give him props though, he was a good fighter so I wouldn't be surprised if he got into UA."
It would suck if we were in the same class.
Shoto and I continue to chat while we finish our drinks. The conversation is causal enough, but I can tell that something is on his mind as we leave the cafe.
We decide to walk around outside since the weather has been favorable. We casually stroll down a bike path with no particular destination in mind. It is nice to hang out with Shoto, I always feel at ease around his calming demeanor.
"Oh hey-" I say cutting off our earlier conversation about a book he was reading, "What did you need to talk to me about yesterday before I bailed?"
A light breeze picks up jostling my hair. Shoto stops walking and turns to me. I can see conflict in his eyes as they meet mine. He reaches his hand up, gently placing a loose strand of hair behind my ear.
"It's nothing." Shoto simply says.
"Are you sure?" I question not believing him at all I continue to press the issue. "You said it was an in person thing?"
"Yeah...an unexpected interference occurred and I want to see how the situation plays out before I tell you." Shoto's tone implies that he will no longer answer any questions on the topic no matter how hard I try.
"Ok...You know I hate it when you get all cryptic and mysterious." I pout, puffing out my cheeks and sticking my tongue out at him.
He reaches forward and takes my hand. Bringing it to his lips, he brushes a gentile kiss against the skin. "You'll have to forgive me, Princess." Shoto says with a hint of a smile tracing his lips.
"Ugh. Don't call me that. We aren't kids anymore." I look away from him to hide my face as he straightens up.
"Hmm. Maybe, but I'll still protect you."
"Your Dad hardly seems like a vicious dragon now that we are older, my prince..." I say sarcastically playing along with a mock curtsy.
"There are other dangers for a beautiful princess such as yourself." Shoto returns with a bow of his own, his eyes still holding mine.
I chuckle, turning on my heel and continue to walk down the path.
Shoto takes a long stride to catch up to me, easily closing the distance with his longer legs. "When do you receive the exam results? I have already been assigned to class 1-A. I hope we can be together."
"It should be relatively soon. They had said they would send out acceptances one week after the exam."
"Oh that's good then you only have three more days to wait."
"The suspense is killing me."
"Don't worry. There is no way you wouldn't get in."
"Thanks Shoto."
"Anytime Y/N. Did you want to meet tomorrow?"
"I was planning on exploring the shops near Uncle Mata's house, so not tomorrow - but we can the next day."
"Sounds good. We can continue our sparring." Shoto says, stopping as we arrive at the intersection leading towards his house.
"More like so you can continue losing!" I yell as I head off towards home looking back over my shoulder at Shoto as I wave farewell.
"Stay out of trouble!" He calls after me.
I smile to myself as I jog towards my house.
Shoto is such a mom. I feel a lot better after telling him about what happened. He is right - I really don't have time for Bakugo and his shit. I need to focus on becoming a great hero and proving my worth! What is the likelihood that I would run into him again anyway?
