Chapter 3: One Of A Kind

Ava's POV
Danny and I had followed the box ghost to a warehouse at the docks. Being as troublesome as he is, he kept trying to make us fear him. Though both of us where just fed up with it and tried to get this fight over with.
"Beware! I am the box ghost I have control over all containers, cardboard, and square!" The box ghost said
"Ok, can we get this over with I have a test to study for."Danny wined
"I told you I could have just done this, but noooo," I complained
"Study! There will be no time to study when you are crushed under the forgotten possessions of...Elliot Kravitz of Arlington Heights Illinois." The ghost threatened
The ghost threw the levitating boxes at us. Both Danny and I went intangible to let the objects faze though. Immediately after I started laughing historically. He really did try but not well enough.
"I don't have time for this. Hey, Tucker let's go and Ava stop laughing."Danny sighed
Sam and tucker burst through the door. Sam was holding a school book and Tucker had the thermos. I still don't know why I didn't get it. Finally being able to breathe and stop laughing, I looked up to see the box ghost scared expression.
"Goodnight everybody." Tucker cheered like a game show host
Tuck opened the thermos and pointed it to the ghost. I flew overthrowing it towards the beam as it screamed no.
"Perimeter secure," Tucker said
"Perimeter secure? What are you the navy seals?" Sam mocked
"Seals, aquatic man males that bark. Their canines right?" Danny asked
"Wrong that is zero for twenty-one," I informed Danny
"I am no teacher but I'm guessing that's an F." Tucker teased
"Aw come on guys, if you going to be superhero sidekicks you going to have to be a little more focused. You're supposed to be helping me study for the test tomorrow, your supposed to be helping me fight, and you're supposed to be helping me catch them so I have time to study!" Danny complained
"I am no one's sidekick." I commented
"What there all right here." Tucker said as he dropped the thermos releasing the ghost "That's weird according to my schedule we should be done by now." both Danny and I gave Tucker a death glare
"And this is why I should have the thermos," I exclaimed
*Time skip*
"Sis!" Damian yelled
"What! I am a little busy getting ready." I asked
"Come here!" Pip said
"Give me a minute!"
I quickly finished getting dressed and grabbed my bag. Before leaving my room I picked up my dad's ghost book and slipped it in my over the shoulder backpack. Walking down the stairs my brothers ambushed me and shoved a magazine in my face.
"What is this?" I asked
"Genius magazine. They asked you to be on next month's cover with some tech you've made, along with Maddie." Pip explained enthusiastically
"Oh my god really!?"
"Really, they want our little sister to be on the cover of one of the biggest promotions for smart women," Damian said
"We are proud of you sweetheart. I you'd like we can send in the reply while you are at school." My mom said
"Of course! This is the biggest opportunity ever! I have to take it!" I replied
"Then we will get it sent in. Now head off to school you three." My dad said
*Time skip*
"I got a D! All this ghost hunting is taking away from my study time," Danny exclaimed
"So much for the Fenton's being a family of geniuses." Tucker mocked
"I can't get a D in biology my parents will kill me." Danny wined
"You can always study with me," I replied
"I might have to take you up on that offer," Danny said slightly smirking
"You can always pull your grade up by doing an extra credit biology assignment. On this magnificent creature." Sam suggested
"A purple back gorilla?" Danny and I questioned
"Yep, there extremely rare, both male. After this, they are gone forever. Which is why you are going to prove he deserves to be set free." Sam said happily
"I don't have time for extra credit or your agenda," Danny complained
"Actually you do. You just need to learn how to manage it better. I am going to become your guy's time management. It is the least I could do for the ghost getting free." Tuck said
"I don't know."
"Yeah, I am not too sure about this."
"It will be my job to keep track of your schedules and get back all those ghosts Sam let loose," Tucker explained
"Remember what happened when I let you manage the thermos," Danny said
"I told you it was a bad idea," I mentioned
"And I have already scheduled do not let Tucker handle the thermos," Tuck said while showing us his PDA
"I suppose we could have a trial period." Danny sighed
"I also scheduled some time so we can look at that gorilla, let's go," Tuck said running off as we followed him
*Time skip*
We sat in the observatory of the zoo watching a stupid gorilla. Danny and Tucker are tired while I am just bored. Watching a gorilla after school is not something I want to do.
"There he is Sampson. So gifted. So...majestic." Sam said dazedly
"Majestic yeah right," I said
"Um...Sam, we've been watching the gorilla scratch its butt for...how long?" Danny asked looking to Tucker
"Six hours." Tucker yawned
"Time flys when you majestically scratching your butt." Danny yawned causing me to yawn
"Stop yawning!" I snapped
"Sorry." Danny apologized
"It is only a matter of time before you find out something nobody has ever learned. You should go an communicate with him." Sam suggested just as I dozed off next to Tuck and Danny
Sam's POV
"Ugh great, Tucker your his manager can you..." I started but everyone was already asleep even Ava
Seconds later Ava and Danny turned to cuddle each other. Feeling a little annoyed but happy, I pull out my camera.
"I'll do it, but first." I say just before I take a picture of the two "Ah...blackmail."
I headed down to Sampson's cage. I see him a few feet away locked up. I feel terrible that he has to stay cooped up in there all day and night.
"What is it you wonderful being?" I asked and Sampson started freaking out and pointing "Is something wrong?"
Sampson climbed to the door of the cage and banged against it. I instantly knew he wanted out.
"You want out?" I asked as I went over to the controls to let him out
He ran out towards the tiger cages. I watched as Sampson fought what assume to be a ghost. I ran straight to the observatory to try and get to the guys and Ava first. By the time I got there, the ghost crashed through the window, and Danny and Ava's ghost senses went off.
"Oh my gosh!" I screamed but my mouth was covered in some ghost goo.
"Now for the ghost children." The ghost said as Sampson came and attacked him
'How does he know Ava is half-ghost? She hasn't told any ghosts. Unless he has been watching us for a while.'
Sampson banged the ghost against a table. Then the ghost threw him across the room. Just as Sampson went to attack again the ghost fazed through the wall. The banging sound Sampson was make woke up Ava and the guys. They shot up screaming. Ava and Danny looked at each other and let go while looking away blushing. They finally noticed Sampson and started to scream again.
Ava's POV
I woke up to the fact I was cuddling with Danny. My cheeks were burning up and my mind was clouded. It was strange, not that I didn't enjoy it just strange. I mean he is my best friend. Honestly, the gorilla in the room was the least on my concern though it was shocking.
"Gorilla loss!" Tucker panicked
"I got him! I'm going ghost!" Danny said just as panicked as he transformed
'Man for someone who deals with ghosts you are really scared of a gorilla.'
I rolled my eyes and transformed as well. I helped him pick Sampson up and went intangible to faze through the wall. Flying over to the cage, we dropped him off and went to the controls. Danny closed the gate just as Tucker and Sam came over.
"Danny, Ava I meant to tell you there was a gho..." Sam started to say but was cut off
"I wonder who let the gorilla out, Sam," Danny said annoyed
"Yeah, wait till we tell everyone at school you let out a four hundred pound gorilla," I remarked sarcasticly
Sam quickly held up a photo of me and Danny from before. Then to make sure Tucker wouldn't spill, she whispered something to him. Tucker's face went from smug to shocked in seconds.
"Or we just keep it our little secret," Danny said
"Yeah, we really have no proof you know." Tuck agreed
"Na" Danny agreed
"I honestly have nothing to lose if that photo gets out, so I am just keeping it for you two," I replied
*Time skip*
We all walked into the Fenton household, both Danny and I disheveled. I looked over to see the lady that would be interviewing me later this week.
"Danny, look at you. I am not sure I like this overnight research." Maddie commented
"Mom comes on we are just a bunch of kids...in the zoo...at night...alone," Danny said causing a bit of silence
"I think we get it, Danny. Sometimes you need to learn when to stop talking." I replied
"I get it, Ava," Danny said still tired
"Ava as in the Ava white! Teen women tech genius!" The lady said
"That is the one," I replied
"You know this lady?" Tuck asked
"Nope, but I know she is the reporter for Genius Magazine. I am supposed to be on the cover along with Maddie." I replied
"I am proud of you," Sam said
"Yeah, just don't take any swimsuit photos," Danny said whispering the last part making me laugh
"I hope to see you this weekend Miss White." The lady said
"You too," I replied
"We will be in my room," Danny said
We continued walking to Danny's room. I started getting more tired with each step. Finally reaching his room Tucker just had to break the silence.
"Here we go Danny, home in time for a well-deserved rest." Tuck said just as his PDA went off "But keep it quick because you have fifteen minutes."
"I will personally throw that PDA out the window Tuck. Don't test me." I commented annoyed
Both Danny and my ghost sense went off. Danny opened the door revealing an empty room. A second later a robotic-like ghost appeared in the door frame.
"Hello ghost children." said the ghost
'What is the saying ghost children? Does he know my secret? How?'
"Um...there is only one-half ghost here and that would be me," Danny said trying to defend me
"Oh but there isn't. You see I know more than you think." He said trapping both Danny and me in nets.
"Danny! Ava!" Tucker and Sam yelled after the door slammed
"Human ghost children in their natural habitat."
"Actually this is not my home and I am not a ghost," I said still trying to deny it
"Who are you?" Danny asked
"I am Skulker a collector of things rare and unique and you two ghost children are that and more." He said laughing and smashed Danny's rocket
"Hey, my rocket I built that!" Danny yelled
"Pity though I hoped you would put up more of a fight." He complained
"Oh don't worry I will!" Danny said transforming and fazing through the net
"Just because you know my secret doesn't mean the other ghost has to know," I said transforming and fazing as well
Danny lunged forward punching Skulker in the face. This knocked him back into the wall behind him. He blasted us with some ray from his wrist. I countered that by using my ecto-beams. He dodged but Danny came around kicking him in the back. Suckler went to blast Danny but he dodged and hit a computer.
"My computer!" Danny yelled
"Danny that is Jazzes computer," I commented
"Oh right."
Skulker took the moment to throw us to the ground. This in turn broke the ground to the kitchen. Both Danny and I laying on our back. My back was killing me from the impact. Skulker came jumping down from the hole.
"Come ghost kids. Time to see your new home." Skulker insisted
He grabbed both of us and fazed through the floor to the lab. He pinned us to the ground. He grabbed us and held us up in the air.
"What are you doing?" Danny struggled to say
"Bringing you back to my world where I can put you on display," Skulker responded
"What!?" Danny said shocked
"Fat chance freak!" I shouted as Skulker pressed a button opening the ghost portal
"Ha...at last time to put you in your cage." He said as he walked to the portal
"Noooo!"Danny and I screamed
"No is right. Cages are wrong, how do you think Sampson feels being in a cage." Sam said sliding in front of the portal
"But..." Skulker started
"He is a beautiful creature and he deserves to come free," Sam yelled
"I..." Skulker stuttered
"Should be ashamed." Sam continued
Skulker was visibly confused, which gave us a chance to attack. We swung our legs kicking him in the chest and knocking him to the floor. He sat up dizzy and dazed while Tucker ran from him. Tucker fell to his face dropping his PDA and glasses to the floor. Skulker stood up and noticed the PDA and picked it up.
"That technology so sleek, so advanced." Skulker admired
He looked between the PDA and his tech. Mumbling something he pulled is wrist pad off. Then replacing it with Tucker's PDA. It sparked as it connected to his already old and worn out tech.
"Hey, I've got three more payments on that." Tucker wined as Skulker glared at him, then wracking him away
"Marvelous," Skulker said
Danny flew to Skulker prepared to fight. Little did he know he was going to get pulverized. I was smart enough to stay behind because with Tuck's tech he basically had an upgrade. Skulker blasted Danny with some goo trapping his wrists and ankles. Which also knocked him back to the wall. Knocking me back with the blast as well.
"Way to go, Tucker, you just made the bad guy worse," I said
"How was I supposed to know my PDA was ghost compatible." Tucker defended
"Say goodbye to this world children." Skulker said as the PDA went off "What? Fly to the library and get a book on the purple back gorilla. No! Stop, the hunt is not over!"
He flew to the roof, going intangible to prevent a crash. Leaving us alone with worrying parents and disappearing restraints. Both Danny and I looked down shocked at the fact they went away with no force.
"What just happened?" Sam and I asked
"Who cares at least I have a minute to relax and figure this out," Danny replied
"Danny where are you? Somebody here wants to meet you." Maddie called
"Ah, my room!" Danny called
He flew up to his room with me following close behind. Both of us detransformed.
"Danny this Connie from Genius Magazine," Maddie called sweetly
"Don't you people ever knock." Danny said sternly slamming the door "Jazz is going to kill me for that."
"Good luck with that." I laughed
"You are now helping." He sighed
"If I helped you would rely on me too much," I said smirking
"You have a point," He said mumbling something else
"What was that?" I asked
"Uh...nothing!" He defended
*Time skip*
Danny's POV
"Any sign of him?" I asked
"Nope. He hasn't bothered you two for thirty-eight minutes. Maybe he's hunting somebody else now." Tuck replied
"How many of those do you have Tuck?" Ava asked
"Just two. Good thing I beamed all the info in here and backed it up. Global thinking Danny the sign of quality time manager." Tuck replied when his PDA went off "Go on you'll be late."
We went through the class as usual till it ended. Ava and I went to our lockers, but when I opened mine chains came out latching onto us. We got smashed against the wall as Skulker floated out of my locker.
"It came out of your locker. How did I get dragged into it?" Ava asked
"What makes you think I know?" I asked
"I have you now ghost children." Skulker said when his new PDA went off "Go to a newsstand and purchase article about a purple back gorilla."
His jets came out and flew him through the roof screaming. Right after the chains were released off us.
"Huh, I have the same thing on mine." Tuck pondered
"I think we'll blow that one-off," I replied
"Agreed," Ava said
*Lunchtime*
"Danny, Ava eat something," Sam suggested
"I can't eat now he could be anywhere," I said
"And I don't want to lose a perfectly good lunch to that idiot." Ava remarked causing me to chuckle "What it's true."
"Hey, this food was scheduled to be eaten," Tuck said
Tuck opened the milk carton releasing two blue orbs. The orbs latched on two mines and Ava's face. We both screamed, along with Tucker and Sam screaming our names. Skulker dropped down on the bleachers behind us.
"Now once more, I Skulker will..." He started but was cut off by the PDA "Take photos of the gorilla."
Once again his jets sent him flying. Which in turn released us from the trap.
"Well, at least he's regular," Sam commented
"Yeah almost like a schedule." I pounder
"I see where you're going with this. Tuck, what is the next thing you have scheduled for us?" Ava asked taking the words out of my mouth
"Gym, why?" Tuck replied
*In the gym locker room*
"I am one smooth dude," Dash said as went to open my locker
"Hey, Dash I am to weak and defenseless to open my locker. Can you open it for me?" I asked acting weak
"Out of the way loser," Dash replied shoving me aside
'The one time I am happy he bullys me.'
Dash went to open the locker. When he did blue gel spewed out trapping him in a bubble on the wall. Skulker appeared next to Dash. Tucker and I hid around the corner.
"Uh, my scanners say you are a normal human destined for an average life after high school," Skulker said
Dash started freacking out in the little bubble. Skulker spotted us and tried to attack, till the PDA went off.
"Vist the gorilla display at the museum of natural history," Skulker said as he flew away sulking
"Why is he going there?" Tucker asked
"When Skulker put your PDA in his technology, he became bound to Ava's and my schedule. He has to go where we were going to go next. Which means it is time for the hunter to become the hunted. Come on we are going to go do something a little ahead of schedule." I explained looking at the PDA that said 'vist gorilla habitat'
*At the zoo*
"Where are they according to this infernal device that I can not reprogram! They were supposed to be here an hour ago. You were supposed to be the bait you stupid animal." Skulker said as Sam and tucker uncovered themselves
"Sampson is not stupid." Sam protested
"He is also not here can I take a message?" Tucker asked
"You two you'll pay for this." Skulker threatened to release his weapons
"Oh, I don't think so." Tucker mocked
Tuck hit a button on his PDA, making Skulker started doing push-ups. He began begging us to stop.
"I think we can help with that," Ava mentioned
We flew down to him starting to attack. I punched him in the gut knocking him back. Ava flew past me catching up with Skulker giving him a round of punches.
'God she's amazing.'
Skulker pulled out a shoulder cannon at her. I raced over as fast a possible to get her out of the way. Tucker pulled up his PDA clicking a button. The cannon turned into a buffer, polishing his armor.
"You were going to push me out of the way," Ava said shocked
"Well, that is what partners are for," I replied
"Thanks." She said giving me a small sweet smile
"Stop fooling around Tucker!" Sam shouted ruining the moment
"Power him down already!" I shouted
"Now!" Ava continued
"Relax everything is totally under con..." Tucker started till is PDA got an arrow shot through it "Control, Aw man I had four more payments on this one."
"You were saying, Tuck," Ava said clearly annoyed
"Tucker you're fired," I mentioned
"I planed on simply catching you two and live the rest of your life in a cage, but now I will rest you pelts at the foot of my bed." Skulker angrily said
"Ok, that's just gross," Sam commented
"Well ghost children any last words," Skulker asked
"Just this." I simply said
"Oh no." Ava sighed smacking her palm against her head while I started to call for Sampson
"What are you doing?" Skulker asked
"He's calling a friend. Something I don't think you have and the ghost zone is huge. That's just sad." Ava replied
It took everything out of me not to laugh. Sampson came swinging down hitting Skulker in the head.
"You learned his language," Sam said shocked
"Well, sure all he does is this," I replied scratching my butt
"That and I made him." Ava whisper I don't think she thought anyone heard
Sampson continually attacked Skulker. Hitting him in the gut, the head, he's back, and ripping his arm off. Finally, he threw him the ground while the arm landed in front of us.
"I still don't understand why a ghost needed a high-tech battle suit?" Tuck questioned as Sampson ripped apart the suit and the head flew at me
"Maybe that's why," Ava replied pointing at the head so I pulled out a tiny green ghost
"I am the greatest hunter in all of the ghost world. You will fear me, you hear me, fear me." Skulker wined
"Thermos please," I said
Tucker pulled out the thermos. He took off the cap and I plopped Skulker inside. Ava and I flew to the ground and detransformed.
"Cool, now let's go home," I suggested
"But you didn't get anything you could use for your report. You're still going to get a D," Sam said
"Aw that's ok, I stopped the bad guy and saved the gorilla then that's...OH MY GOD!" I screamed going to pick up the PDA just as I turned my head to see Sampson is a girl.
*In class the next day*
"Bruting genius Danial Fenton did what no other researcher dared to do. He got close enough to this rare purple back gorilla to realize Sampson was actually a...Dalila. Nobody at that zoo bothered to see if it was a boy or a girl." Mr.Lancer read
"That's weird uh...well maybe they were respecting her privacy," I commented
"Well, Fenton I have to admit I am impressed. You wanted to get you to grade up so bad you risked getting mauled by a gorilla, C." Lancer stated
"A-C! I almost get killed by a gho...gorilla and all I get is a C!" I complained
"Life is a big mystery isn't it Fenton." Lancer said smugly as the bell rang "Next time you want to get your grade up try the library."
"Well, it is better than a D, right," Sam stated
"Aw man if only I had something I could take this out on," I said frustrated
"I am the box ghost and only I empty you of these papers you marvelous square shall be mine." Box ghost cried
"There is your punching bag Danny. It is all yours." Ava cheered as I smiled at her
'This is why she is the best.'
"Hello, misplaced aggression." I cooed
"You've got five minutes," Tucker commented
"Which is four more than I'll need," I replied starting to pummeled the ghost
*Saturday*
Ava's POV
"Alright Miss White tell me about what you're work on," Connie asked
"Well this might take a while, but let's start with my in-progress hoverboard," I replied
