Let me tell you about myself. If you want a nice welcome from me, then you better fucking leave. You see, I'm not the nicest of people, if you even want to call me a 'person', it's more like 'Nemphlim'. My name is Flame Campell and I live in Hell... No literally, I live in actual Hell. You're probably wondering why the fuck I'm living in Hell, well, my dad is THE devil. I wonder that sometimes too, then I remember I wouldn't be living in this hot furnace if it weren't for my mom (this will be explained later), who is an angel living in heaven with a sister I didn't even know until last year; Her name is Mackenzie. I don't talk about my family in the clouds, so moving on!
I'm 5 foot 5 and take my looks from my mother unfortunately. Blond curly hair to the middle of my back, dangerous blue eyes, and the worst part... I received her fluffy white angel wings. But my dad passed on some wicked looking devil horns. Even though I live in Hell with dad, I never see him because he's at work, constantly claiming people who had a shitty life and dragging them down to hell. I want to take on this job someday, but I'm "Sixteen and too young for the job still." Whatever. To pass the time everyday, I screw with the unfortunate ones that are here. The fun part is, no matter how much you mess with them, they'll always come right back. I sighed and pat my hell hound, Romper, on the head.
"We need to get out of this Hell. Let's run away," I said. Personally I was done with this bull crap that my dad gave me everyday about not being ready for the outside world. Forget that. I'm leaving. "I mean I love my dad, but sometimes I think he overprotective, we need to do something that'll break the protection barrier." Romped scratched his ear in response, which usually meant that he agreed with me.
We walked back to the house, listening to my music on full blast; just to warn my dad that I was headed home, and that I wouldn't shut the music off for anything.
"I'M HOME!" I screamed over the Panic! At The Disco. My dad came into the living room. He is 6 foot 5, has olive skin and the deepest red eyes anyone will ever see. He has 5 o'clock shadow and always wears a black button up, slacks, dress shoes, and a red tie. He always has a bad expression on his face, it's so bad you could say it's... grim. He raised an eyebrow at me.
"TURN IT DOWN, FLAME!" He yelled. I turned it down only a little.
"Better, dad?" I almost said 'turn down for what.' But I hate that song, and it wasn't worth it. I sniffed, something sweet was baking in the kitchen "Are.. Are you actually baking something?" I said, shocked. He never bakes unless something big was coming up. Like that one time when I learned to fly, and he baked a cake.
"Yeah, what's wrong with that? Can't the devil bake once in a while?"
"No, because it usually means something happened..." I eyed him suspiciously. He shrugged and walked away.
"Whatever." I mumbled under my breath, even though I really wanted to know why he was baking, I turned and walked up the stair to the attic, a.k.a my room. It was fairly small, a bed in the corner piled with pillows, a laptop sitting on the night stand. Red Christmas lights hung from the ceiling 24/7, and various posters of bands and movies were everywhere. I liked my room, and I stated thinking about leaving again. Hell, what am I thinking? Of course I'll come back eventually!
I threw a blue backpack onto my bed and started gathering the things necessary for life, my laptop, it's charger, 2 sets of clothes, and 150 dollars. I zipped up the bag and started to walk out, but I saw my iPod charger and took it. I glanced around my room one last time, and unplugged the Christmas lights, then I left. I tiptoed through the house, to the living room where I saw dad reclined in his chair, watching TV. I snuck into the kitchen and grabbed Romper's ziploc of food. I thought about leaving silently, but I'm a sixteen year old demon, dramatic is what I am.
I walked into the living room and opened the sliding glass door. I sat for a few seconds, dad looked at me and raised his eyebrow at me again.
"The hell is wrong with you? You never open the windows," he took a closer look at me, and sighed "You're trying to leave me again."
"You can't keep me here forever, as the Nemphlim I am, I've become of age, like, two months ago. Let me go to school! Get a job! Heck, an apartment even! I don't want to be in hell for the rest of my life! Please. Let me go." I pleaded. This was the sixth time I've tried to leave.
"You better not let the Angels find you. You're not even suppose to exist! I keep you here because I don't want to lose you-"
"You keep me here because mom banished me here! Dammit dad! You are Lucifer! You aren't capable of loving, of not wanting to lose someone." The floor shook, I had crossed a line. Oops.
"Child, you don't know shit about what I'm capable of feeling," His horns got bigger, and flames erupted on his arms. Huge bat wings extended on his back. I had only seen him get like this once before, when my mom disapproved of me and my sister. "If you die out there, you're coming straight here anyway. So until you fucking die by the hands of an angel, get the hell out of here." Tears stung my eyes. Shit. "And I'll be keeping Romper. You'll have enough on your mind with taxes and school. I'm keeping the dog." I loved Romper, he was my only friend. But this was my only chance to see Earth and normal people. I looked at my hell hound with an apologetic look. He tilted his head sideways, as if knowing that I'm leaving him, but not understanding why.
Dad calmed down, taking his normal form back. He growled at me as the tears rolled down my face.
"Here's the food," I threw it at him. "I know you're immortal and shit. But I hope you fuckin' die. "
"Don't talk to me." Ouch.
I turned and threw myself off the patio. Taking my leave, faster than I ever have. I closed my eyes, one second I was in Hell, the next second I was flying down a highway. I looked at a near by street sign, Barrow County (23 m). Barrow County? Georgia, I think. Wonderful. There are nice people here.
