Kageyama was in middle school, when he understood something wasn't quite right about him.
He knew he had talent. All adults, and even more his own parents kept saying it. He was what they call a genius. He loved volley-ball. That's the only thing he was sure that wasn't going to give up on him, or to leave him alone.
And he was right. Sports were always here when he needed it the most.
So he went into a club, wanting to make it a bigger part in his life. Wanting it to be permanent, and to stay as long as possible. But as he experienced sociability, and matches, he was sure that the voice he heard in his head wasn't exactly normal.
Even thought it has already been here from the beginning of the beginning.
At games, when he gave all he could, or when he was at his maximal concentration, the low whisper inside him was always here, haunting him. Playing with him, as a part of his own body, as one of his legs, or his arms, it didn't matter. He first found him kind of scary. After all, a big dark figure, with deep blue eyes couldn't inspire joy to a child who just met him. And he was kinda weird too.
Mocking, selfish, and really, really arrogant.
He called it Something.
And Something laughed at him when he told him his name with determination in his eyes, hopping a mutual agreement.
Y̷o̷u̷ ̷h̷a̷v̷e̷ ̷n̷o̷t̷h̷i̷n̷g̷ ̷s̷i̷m̷p̷l̷e̷r̷?̷
The setter stares at the blue orbs that are watching him, filled with amusement.
"I like this one."
Something pauses, but after several seconds, curiously tilts his head.
W̷h̷y̷?̷
They sit in the darkness, and there is nothing left but the two of them, sitting cross-legged, the both staring at the other. Kageyama smiles, and it's bright, joyful.
"Just because."
No more complains reached his ears after that.
He learned to live with it, and took it as an advantage, because it really helped him, through his growth. Soon, step by step, he let himself rely on Something, giving him the light, knowing he would handle things properly.
