The loud chatter of students passing through the hallway was muted by my earbuds as I passed by ignorant to my surroundings. I shove my way past groups of friends shrouding the entrance to chemistry, simultaneously taking out my music and shoving it into my bag. I take my usual seat, the third chair on the left and four seats back. In my spare time, I pull out my unfinished art final and plan my rough graph in my sketchbook.

Right as class was about to begin, unsurprisingly a group of at least six students bustling in. I glance up a accidentally lock eyes with Caesar, I quickly glance away but I can still feel the heat of his gaze on my face. I can almost feel the thousands of unsaid words between. The silence is deafening until Mr. Buchanan finally starts his lesson on thermodynamics. I idly take notes, while only paying half attention while class drones on. I don't look up until I hear Mr. Buchanan say partners, and my head snaps up and I look towards Evelyn, who is already looking at me. Before I could stand Mr. Buchanan interrupts. "Your partners will be assigned at random." He walks over and pulls out a bowl filled with paper from inside of his desk. He rattles off a list of names until I heard my name and the one other name I dreaded. " Maeve Tremblay and Caesar Perry." Caesar. Great. I mentally roll my eyes and turn my gaze to Evelyn who mouthed a sorry and gave me a half-hearted shrug. I concluded that I would just work on the assignment myself and smack on Caesar's name to get the credit. While pulling out my laptop to start the research, a black backpack drops down next to me, startling me. I look up to glare and the offender but taken aback when I see his alluring blue eyes.
