Escape The Dead
Chapter 10- Chaos At The Campsite
They walked through the woods as the sun shone through the wet green leaves of the trees.
"I'm glad it stopped raining," said Joe looking up.
Jack heard rustling and turned around to see a squirrel jump out from behind the bushes.
"Aw, its so cute." Jillian walked closer to the squirrel wanting to pet it.
Gina stared at the squirrel with curious eyes. The squirrel stared back at her with dead eyes. Gina noticed how it's fur looked like it was covered in blood and saw it's exposed ribs and broken tail. Gina then screamed out with surprised eyes.
"Jill! Don't get close to it! That's a zombie!" Gina warned.
"What?" It was too late, Jillian's hand was already out.
"Jill, duck!" Joe pulled out his gun.
The squirrel jumped at Jillian but she ducked aside just in time as she squealed, and Joe shot the squirrel down with a loud bang.
"You ok, Jill?" Nicole helped Jillian up to her feet.
"Yeah, thanks." Jillian got up as she dusted herself off.
"We should find shelter or else we'll be squirrel food," said Jack.
Gina agreed with Jack. They just got together and they wouldn't want to get separated again. They walked around the woods keeping their eyes out for any zombies as it was getting dark. It felt like they were never getting out of the woods. Gina spotted a cabin in the distance. When they got closer, Gina could tell it was some kind of campsite and the cabins circle around a bonfire set, next to a huge lake.
"We can take shelter here." Gina looked around seeing that the campsite was like an abandoned ghost town.
"There's no one here," said Joe looking through the cabin windows.
"Alright then, choose a cabin," said Jack.
"I chose this one," Jillian pointed to the cabin on the edge of the lake.
Gina and Nicole walked through the doors of the cabin Jillian chosed. They saw two beds one one each side. The cabin was big enough for two people.
Jack walked in, "Looks like there's only two beds."
"We can see that," Nicole pointed out the obvious.
"So? What are we going to do?" Joe asked walking in with Jillian.
"Ok. So there are two beds, meaning two people can sleep on one bed," Gina explained. "And one of us has to sleep in another cabin."
They looked at each other and started to argue who gets to stay. Gina slapped her face in frustration.
"Ok! Stop!" Gina screamed. Their attention was all on Gina. "I'll go sleep in the other cabins. Ok?"
They all looked at each other then nodded. Jack wasn't sure if that's a good idea but he agreed anyway. Gina only sighed, relieved that they had stopped arguing. When night fell Gina was in the cabin across from everyone else's, near the woods. Nicole and Jillian slept on the bed on the left and Jack and Joe slept in the bed on the right.
"I feel kinda bad that Gina has to sleep alone," said Jillian.
"She did volunteer," Nicole added in.
"Actually, the only reason she volunteered is to stop us from arguing." Jack sat up.
"Jack's telling the truth," said Joe lying in bed.
