The 13 Assassins. Part 1: 'The Awakening'
As I fall into a soundless sleep, everything around me goes black.
Where am I? What’s happening?
”Ayumu! Ayumu! what are you doing? You’re going to be late for the Cherry Blossom festival!” A weak voice says.
Ayumu. Where have i heard that name before?
”I’m coming! I just have to paint my lips once more”, Ayumu replies in a sweet chimeful voice.
As she turns to walk out, her eyes is what catches me off guard. Beautiful pale golden eyes…but there’s something wrong. In her eyes I see sadness and a darkness too.
‘Kin Yami’ I think.
As she walks out of her room, her beautiful long blue silk kimono slides graciously across the wooden floor.
‘What a beautiful kimono! I never seen one embroided with cherry blossoms and jewels before’ I think to myself in awe.
Her perfectly round face is a shade of white, while her lips are ruby red. There’s nothing better than to make your eyes ‘pop’ then to outline them in black…but with her eyes, it makes her seem more intimidating.
‘Intimidating but beautiful’ I think to myself.
Only thing you hear left when she leaves the room, is her hair ornaments. Beautiful golden flowers that puts her entire look together.
“Ayumu hurry up! we don’t want to be late!” an old woman says impatiently.
‘Geisha. Ayumu is a Geisha! But a totally diffrent kind of Geisha, because the old woman in the grey kimono had lots of scars on her body….was she beaten?’ I think to myself.
As Ayumu and the old woman make their way to the carriage, I grab an umbrella so nobody would recognise me as i follow along after them.
‘But you’re dreaming! Nobody would see you stupid!… But it wouldn’t hurt to hide myself’ I think.
As we make our way across a bridge and into the woods, a couple of men in uniforms came and blocked our path. They appeared to be ‘drunk’
“Hey you boys! move out of our way! We’re going to be late for the Cherry Blossom festival!” the old woman says angerily coming out of the carriage.
“And…If we don’t?” the first man replied in a threatening voice as he moves toward the carriage.
“We just want your belongings and your daughter ‘Ayumu’ for ourselves” the two of them said and they all laughed.
“No, I will not let you lay a finger on Ayumu! She’s not in good condition to deal with this non-sense, so please MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!” Ayumu’s mother shouts in anger as she moves toward the men.
They all laugh, then one of the men went and hit the old woman, making her fall to the ground beside the carriage.
“You little hag! You can’t do anything to us! We’re un-stoppable!” they all laughed as they got closer to the carriage.
“Un-stoppable you say?…How so? I mean, you’re only a couple of drunken soldiers who doesn’t know how to treat an elderly woman and her daughter, who is trying to make their way to a party, nothing to be scared of if you ask me” Ayumu says softly as she comes out of the carriage to help her mother. But there’s a deadly tinge to it.
“Hah! smart one now are you? You have no idea who you’re messing with..”
“As do you.” Ayumu interrupts with a glare.
