I sat on my bed face down. Part of me wanted to suffocate myself with the pillow just to end all of this mess. I need to get away from here for a bit, go back to before I found out what I have to do, go home. The question is, how? I started going towards the library and thought about how I'm going to ask Rose how I can go back to earth. I walked in and saw her sitting behind her old wooden desk just like last time.

“Hello Rose” I said when I reached her desk, making her jump a little.

“Oh hello again, Lex. You ok?”

“Yeah, um can I ask you something?” I asked nervously.

“Of course you can, I know a lot of things so I should be able to answer” she said with a smile.

“How do I go back to earth?”

She smiled a sad smile before standing up and walking round to me.

“Are you ok?”

“Yes…”

“Fine, just checking. One of the leaders has the job of guarding a portal to earth, you would have to go see him. The portal is on the other side of the city and the leader is called Uriel” she said and walked back to her desk to sit down.

“Thank you, Rose!” I shouted as I was already at the entrance of the library.

I started flying, hoping to see the portal from above, and flew to the opposite side of the city. Eventually I saw a large building on its own at the end with a couple of guards outside. I landed at the entrance and the guards barely noticed me so I walked in.

“So you had enough of this world, Lex?” I turned around and nearly bumped into his chest. He was tall, just over a head above me. His silver hair went down to his shoulders and his eyes were as bright as the sun. He smiled down at me and I just stared back at him.

“I haven’t had enough of this world, I just want to go back home for a little while. I'm guessing you are Uriel, are you going to let me go through the portal?”

“Yes and yes. Follow me” he grabbed my arm gently, I guess he doesn’t know what the word “follow” means, and lead me to the portal.

It was round with the same marble angel wings as on the gate. It was all stone and also had the beautiful, interesting designs like on the gate, must be a theme. It was glowing blue and swirled around, almost like water but not quite.

“How do I get back?” I stared into the hypnotizing portal and didn’t even look at Uriel when he replied.

“Just think about any place here, in the city, and you will be there” he said kindly.

“How come I was never told angels can teleport before?”

“We can’t,” this guy is making no sense right now, he sensed my confusion and answered, “We can only teleport to the city, and you had to fly here before because you had never been here before so you wouldn’t have been able to picture this place” he smiled and I nodded before walking closer to the portal.

I put my hand out to touch it and revelled in its beauty. Uriel patted me on the back and stepped backwards.

“Just remember, picture the place you want to go and the portal will take you there”

I thought of my house, closed my eyes and walked through the portal.

I was surrounded by darkness as I floated towards earth. The few seconds I was in the darkness between earth and the city felt like hours. Just as I had accepted something had gone wrong and I was in limbo or something, I was falling through the air heading for the ground. Unlike last time, I spread my wings and saved myself from smashing into the ground and probably dying.

I landed gracefully on the ground and folded my wings into my back. Luckily, I had landed in my garden. I walked around to my front door to see a poster stuck to the door. I pulled it down and read it, it had large, bold letters saying missing and underneath was a picture of me. There were flowers all around the door.

“Does everyone think I'm dead?” I said to myself.

I heard something smash behind me and I turned around to see Eve staring with shock and fear filled eyes, a smashed vase was on the floor, probably to put some flowers in.

“Wait!” I shouted as she started running away from me, she probably thinks she just saw a ghost, I guess she kind of did.
