I had been born on a different planet, one that had long since been destroyed and forgotten. As far as I knew I was the only one left. I was orphaned. I wasn't sure how I ended up on Asgard but I was found by a nice man there who took me to an orphanage.
I hated it though. The rules were strict and we barely ate. I ran away so often they eventually gave up on bringing me back and let me be. I grew up mostly on the streets. Using my wit and charm I always had what I needed except a home. I didn't mind, I loved the outdoors and made do. It was a solitary life but I didn't need anyone.
I was about 19 when I first laid eyes on Frigga and Loki. They were wondering about the market when he caught my eye. I knew from his reputation he was charming with his words but I was taken back by his good looks. He must've felt me staring too long for he turned and our eyes locked. A mischievous smirk played across his lips. I looked away quickly and pretended to be busy. Suddenly I felt a presence right behind me and a hand appeared right by mine. A hand with long slender pale fingers.
"These are very nice, though I think this one would look better on you," a silky voice said as the hand picked up a deep purple silk roll.
"Well it is my favorite color, however, it is much more expensive and out of my price range," I replied. I wanted to move but I could feel his body blocking my only exit. My heart raced slightly.
"Your price range? What are you talking about Revna? You never pay! You always swindle me out of whatever you want," the seller laughed.
He wasn't wrong though I never paid for anything and if I did it was in services of cooking, cleaning, or sewing. I fidgeted where I stood as a hot chuckle escaped the throat of the man hovering over me.
"If I may say, prince Loki, her silver tongue almost rivals yours."
"Is that so?" Loki asked intrigued as he leaned closer into me. "Maybe you should join us as we go back to the palace?"
"I'm afraid I must humbly decline your gracious invitation as I have prior engagements," I said trying to squirm my way out of the situation.
"I must insist," he said darkly as he snatched my wrist before I got away. "It's not wise to reject an invitation from a royal."
"Of course, my apologies, prince Loki," I said with as much grace I could muster.
"Good, now let's go," he said with a lighter tone.
I was finally able to turn around and face the man. He was taller then I had expected as I had to raise my head to look up at him. Loki smirked and held his arm out for me to take. Cautiously I took his arm and allowed this stranger to escort me out of the shop we were in. My heart hadn't slowed down yet. I didn't trust people, especially not another silver tongue.
"There you are Loki," Frigga said making her way through the street. "Who is this?" she smiled sweetly at me.
"This is Lady Revna," Loki introduced me. He had caught my name from the store clerk. I visited there often.
"It's an honor, your majesty," I curtseyed.
"I have asked her to accompany us back to the palace. I wish her to keep me company at least through dinner. I would not want to keep such a lovely maiden out too late though."
I blushed without realizing it but it didn't go unnoticed by the two in my company.
"Loki, don't toy with her, she seems like a nice young lady," Frigga warned.
"I wouldn't dream of it mother," Loki smiled.
"He couldn't anyway," I laughed lightly then bit my tongue. I wasn't sure if it was appropriate to jab back in their presence.
