The lady in red and the man who wanted to know.

122 14 4

The lady in red,
met me at the cross roads.
"Hello." She said.
And she asked me what I wanted.
Power, women or
wealth instead.

"None, lady, none!" was what I said.
She looked at me,
Her eyes were dead.
Her answer was one I'd dread.
"I give you three doors,
and none you say..." The lady said.

"None you say.
Then I must be on my way."
"No, wait, demon, wait!"
"Do waste not my time."
"Please, make all of knowledge mine."
The lady smiled her demon smile.
I said, " I want to know and know and know. "
"The world is full of knowledge,
that I know you know. " The demon said.
"That's so.That is so."
"Giving you all will make you know
even those things I do not know."
"That is so. That's so."

"Why should I give you more than I have?
I am the demon, the lady in red."
"You are the demon, the lady in red,
and my soul will be yours forever." I said.
"I offered you things all sons of Adam will want. Yet you want to know instead."

"knowledge, lady, knowledge!" I said.
"Is the best thing one can have."
"Take wealth,
money makes the world go round."
"Money is the root of all evil." I said
The demon shook her lady head.

"You are as hard as a stone bed." She said.
"That's so.That is so."
"Tell me, why do you want to know?"
"Knowledge is better than silver or gold,
don't you know?
Power, it comes and goes.
The women may die or leave, you know?
But knowledge is part of you.
It goes with you to places high or low,
even six feet below."

"I am the demon, the lady in red
and you are the man who wants to know."
"That is so! That's so."
"I want your soul more than you know
but I do not know how to make you know. "
"But you are the demon, the lady in red!"
"That is so. That's so"

"I summoned you to make me know."
"When I came, that I did not know."
"I killed my wife for nothing?“
"That's so. That is so."

"Give me wealth or power then."
"Oh no, no no no."
"Then give me my love back." I cried.
"That I cannot do. All Knowledge you wanted to know. And now you know that that you cannot know. It is time for me to go."

"The demons always win." I said, as my tears flowed.
"That is so. That's so."
"Go to hell!“
"That's so. That is so."

The lady in red
left me standing alone in the cross roads,
My wife laid dead.
"What have I done." I said
"knowledge I killed you for,
Nothing I have instead."
