My alarm woke up in the guest room next to Amia. I shook her so she could wake up, "Aye, we gotta get ready. Get up." She let out a long; annoying groan, "I'm up."

I grabbed my bag of toiletries and went to the bathroom, I always liked this bathroom because it was attached to two rooms.

I started brushing my teeth and I heard the door open from the other room; Khalil walked in. I hope we'll talk about going on a actual date soon. All this sexual stuff isn't enough for me. "Yea, get that tongue girl," he said before splashing his face.

I rolled my eyes at him and spat out the toothpaste. I started gargling my mouth wash and he faced me like he was about to start talking again.

"So I was wondering, since we both like each other and all. Would you want to go on a date with me?"

He would ask me when I can't talk. I held up my finger telling him to wait and I finished and rinsed my mouth out.

"Yes, I would love to go on a date with you," I said giving him a small smile. "Okay, is Saturday fine?"

"Perfect," I responded. I gathered my stuff and walked into the separate part of the bathroom to take a shower.

6:10 a.m.

I was in the living room chilling with Lamonte listening to music on my AirPods waiting on everyone else to finish getting ready.

"Good morning," Jerome said coming into the living room. "Good morning," we said back in unison.

"You think I got time to cook breakfast?" I asked. "You could, if there was anything to cook," Lamonte responded.

"How the hell you ain't got no food in here?" "I don't eat here," he said mugging me.

"That's sad as hell, I'm gonna buy you groceries next time we sleep over," I said as Kacey and Amia walked in.

"Kahlil still ain't ready?" Jerome asked.
"I saw him with his clothes on, I don't know what he's doing," Kacey said.

I got up and went upstairs. When I opened the door, Kahlil was laying on the bed with his hands covering his face.

I walked in and sat down, "What's wrong?" "I'm good," he mumbled in his hands.

I pulled his hands down, anger and sadness was all over his face."You sure? You can talk to me whenever you're ready."

He was silent for a few seconds and then he sat up to look at me, "It's my mom's birthday."

I remember him telling me how he lost his parents a couple years before he met us. He didn't go into how it happened.

I pulled him into a hug and held me tight. We stayed in the hug for a moment. I usually don't do long hugs like this, but he needed it.

"You gonna be okay?" I asked as he pulled away. He nodded his head yes and kissed me on my cheek. "Thank you Nari, I appreciate it." "Of course; I'm here whenever."

He grabbed his stuff and we left the room together. I stopped him in the hallway.

"Do you want to tell them?" "I might as well," he said plainly.
