                                                                        Cloud POV

After having the little quarrel with Max and having everyone explain everything, I now felt a bit better. Specially since they told me that they were going to teach how to fly. I mean, I’ve known my whole life that I have wings, but I never knew how to use them. Max wasn’t in the house right now because she went “charging of“. Nudge explained that she did that very often, so I decided that she just wasn’t mad at me. I also found out that Iggy is blind, which really surprised me. So after having Nudge show me to my room, she left. That’s when I remembered Still, and I cried, and cried all night.

Since I couldn’t sleep, I stared out the window and eventually, saw Max approach the house. She looked so graceful flying in circles. I cant wait ’till I can fly too. Then, I wouldn’t be much bother. When I looked out the window again, she was gone. I decided not to worry, but I did.

I frantically looked around, and saw something carry her across the ground. I quickly ran into the dormitories were the others were, and told them. They all came out of the house in a flash, with me right behind them.

We all scanned the area, but Max was nowhere to be found. That’s when it hit me. Max and the others had taken me. Now they had taken her. I saw the flock take off one by one. First Angel, then Gassy, then Nudge, Iggy, and last came Fang. I carefully extended my wings, clean now because of the warm shower, and noticed what color they were. I couldn’t extend them in the building because there wasn’t enough room, but now I could see in the night that they where light brown with white tips. The others where off, and I remembered how they had taken off. First a running start, then, I would flap my wings back and forth in rhythm

“You’ll need a lot of practice.” said Jeb reading my mind. Not literally though. That’s when I decided to prove him wrong.

I first flapped my wings, feeling their powerful muscles move after all the years of not doing so. Now that I had the rhythm, I took a running start, leaped into the air, and started to FLY.

I can’t  say how I did it, but on my first try, I began to fly. I looked down to see Jeb’s  dumfounded expression. Then I laughed, but my joy only lasted for a second because the flock was back. And they weren’t happy.

They hadn’t found Max, but the eraser  they found told them that I knew where she was. So now they thought that this was all a trap, and I was the main suspect. They landed gracefully, and I landed awkwardly, almost face planting in the ground. We all walked into the house. All eyes on me of course. Then, everything went downhill. Fang roughly pushed me onto the wall and asked what everyone was wondering.

     “WHERE IS MAX”

He looked at me intensely, feeling his stare with my eyes. He was holding me against the wall, with his hands pushing my shoulders. I looked away. I had an idea, but I wasn’t sure if  it was true. I broke free from him, and ran out the door. I ran, remembered that I could fly, and flew into the night.

                                                                   MAX POV

Man it’s cold. I looked at the stars. About 2:00 in the morning. Feeling exhausted, I started moving in circles, first big, then smaller and smaller. Since the area was almost deserted, I didn’t look around to see if people where watching. My first mistake. Almost immediately, I felt something hit me hard enough to knock me head over toes. Gasping for air, I looked around. Then something else hit me. This time, one of my wings took the damage. I fell fast, awkwardly tried to fly with only one wing, and almost too suddenly hit the ground.

I woke up just to be thrown onto a small cage. How typical. You get used to being treated like trash after a while. I leaned back, and feeling the throbbing pain, I clutched my stomach, and whimpered softly. I looked to see if anyone had heard it. Luckily, no one was in the room. I carefully tried to lean back again. Not so much pain this time. I rested my head, and did a complete scan. No broken bones. That’s a surprise.

Then I saw the whitecoats walking into the room. No biggie. But what I saw next made my heart skip a beat, because Cloud was with them. But the surprise only lasted a few seconds, because I saw her eyes where closed. The things that were carrying dumped her into the crate across the room. Smart choice from them. After they left, she awoke.

She sheepishly looked at me, then at the wall, then rapidly looked at me again in surprise.

“So they got you too?”

“No, I’m just here because I wanted to.“ I realized how rude that was, and said, “Yea they got me too”

“Oh, it’s all my fault. You guys should have never come. Now you see what has happened.”

“It’s not your fault.” I said crossing my fingers behind me. For some reason, I can never tell a lie. That’s what sometimes gets me into all this trouble.

“Max? I heard them say that they where gona get the flock. Then make Jeb work for them again.” Then she broke down. Again.

“All my fault. All my fault” she kept repeating that. Then, out of nowhere, stopped. She looked straight ahead, twitched a couple times, and went totally limp.

“Cloud?, CLOUD?! WAKE UP CLOUD!! WHAT’S WRONG?!” I was trying to wake her up. I guess that all the commotion made the whitecoat look to see what was wrong. They saw her limp, and me hysterical, and took her out. I just hope she’s OK. After staying awake for what seemed forever, I decided it was OK to go to sleep. So I did.

I awoke startled  just to see some really fat whitecoats looking at me. I immediately put on my Maximum face. I decided to  copy them, because I though of how funny it would be. They looked at me up and down, and I looked at them up and down. They started talking, and I pretended to be in the conversation.

“It has wings, so that proves to be it is the thing we were looking for.” said the fattest.

“But it’s all bruised up, I specifically told the Meocons NOT to hurt it.” said the other.

“But they did. And they need to be all killed. Also, lets kill ourselves because we are polluting the world with fatness.” I said in the most serious, fat man sounding voice. I did my best not to laugh at their gawk expressions, showing anger and surprise at the same time.

“Well, the instructor did say that it could talk nonsense. Let’s just go already.” said the second fat one.

After they left, I admit it, I giggled, and sat down. I wonder what the flock is doing, I though to myself, I wonder how Fang is doing. Then, I heard the wheels of a crate coming close and closer, and eventually stopping at the front of my cage. My  cage went THUD as it was swung from the floor, onto the cart. Then, they sprayed some itchy gas, I though of Gassy, and I eventually had to breath it in because my lungs where about to burst. At that instant, I saw swirly patterns, colorful lights, and misshapen people, and I felt myself falling asleep.
