I was playing with the snow and throwing them at the nearest tree in front of me when I suddenly heard a scream.
'It's Renata!' I immediately followed the direction where I heard it and a wolf was about to pounce over her.
I quickly distracted the wolf with my power and it was immobilized for a moment. I quickly ran in front of Renata and quickly gaze at her checking for any signs of wound. I let out a shaky sigh in relief, she has no injury.
I turned my attention to the wolf who is now standing slowly and growling at me.
I took out the comm device from Dr. Herzog and hand it over to Renata. "Try to contact Dr. Herzog and tell him our situation. I'll distract the wolf as much as I can."
"No! Just run and go to the orphanage. I don't want you to get hurt."
I turned at her and smiled. "I'll be fine don't worry about me." I said out loud but I was not sure if it was for Renata or for myself. I was also scared in fighting the wolf.
I wasn't born a fighter, I was born a healer. I was only good at assisting the others in training and even at hunting. I was never good at battle.
But now I have to think of something and buy some time for us until Dr. Herzog gets here.
I took a deep breath before attacking the wolf with my powers. Shots of lighting coming from the sky as I summon my powers from the magic orb that has a piece of my soul trapped inside it.
I was called a Soul Dancer. Part of my soul has been taken from me and was placed on a piece of orb that keeps on hovering beside me. At times of battle my other half is also being summoned from the orb as a white soul and tries to assist me in battles but I can't hold for much longer. It takes a lot of my stamina to handle the magic this was why I only focused on healing.
I keep on attacking the wolf and didn't let it have any chance of attacking or standing up.
The wolf suddenly falls with a loud thud as I was panting hard trying to catch my breath.
The wolf is now dead. The white snow is being coated with red from the blood seeping out of the wounds I created.
I turn around and look at Renata to see if she has already contacted Dr. Herzog but then she suddenly yells, "Watch out!"
I turned around and see the wolf's mouth closing in on me.
~
"Ahhhh!" I screamed as I sat on the bed. I was catching up by breath and looked around me immediately to see if the wolf is here. I calmed down a bit as I see the familiar cottage where Renata and I live.
"Good, your awake. I thought I had to splash some water on your face." I looked at Renata and saw her holding a book. She turned the last page before closing it and looking at me. "It sounds like you had quiet a nightmare."
I groaned and fell back to bed. "Yeah. A nightmare that seemed so real. I thought I was about to die."
I heard Renata laugh. "Don't be dramatic. Get up it's a special day today!"
"I don't wanna!" I said and throws the covers again and try to sleep. I still want to sleep peacefully after that nightmare.
I'm still having goosebumps thinking about it.
I heard the door creak and I thought Renata already left when suddenly the sheets were ripped off of me and the cold breeze from the cold winter suddenly came to me.
"Okay, okay! I'm up. Jeez can't you just wake me up like a proper human being?"
"Then where's the fun in that?" she said smirking.
I rolled my eyes and stretched my body before standing up.
"I made a card for Dr. Herzog, you'll just need to sign in so he will know its from the both of us." Renata said while I was changing my clothes.
"Say Renata, today is the day Dr. Herzog will choose one of us to leave for the capitol right?"
Renata smiled beaming. "Yes! I wonder who will be chosen."
I do hope its Renata. Ever since we were little she liked the idea of going to the capitol.
"Hurry and get dressed. I'll just go where Z is hiding again. He may be sleeping again, that lazy butt!"
Renata when outside while I finishing to change. I went to the desk and signed my name at the card. I looked up in the window and saw Dr. Herzog talking with Renata.
I quickly took the card and placed it in my pocket. I went outside and slowly approached them.
Dr. Herzog must've heard my footsteps from the snow as he looked and smiled at me. "My little Renata and Lia. How are both of my favorite girls?" Dr. Herzog lean down and whispered, "Don't tell the others I said that." he said and winked.
Me and Renata laughed as we nod. "Don't worry we won't." I said.
"So where's Z? I hope he will show up for the exam today."
"Umm.. he's already awake! Might be strolling around. Don't worry Dr. Herzog I'll try my best to bring him with us."
I internally winced hoping Dr. Herzog doesn't catch what Renata is really saying.
"Okay then. I'll expect all of you later at the training grounds." he said and left us.
When Dr. Herzog was already out of ears reach, Renata sighed and looked at me. "That was a close one! If Dr. Herzog knew that Z is still not up and doesn't have any intention to go at the training, he'll be in big trouble."
I nod and looked at the boys cottage. From there we saw Z just coming out of the door, yawning and stretching.
"That little bastard." Renata mumbled and stomped her way to Z.
I giggled as I follow along. Looks like Z is going to get an earful from Renata I can't miss that.
