NamJoon removed his headphones and placed them on the table, stretching in his chair. His stomach grumbled and he looked up at the clock ,which made him realise that it had been quite some time since his house mate had gone shopping for groceries for dinner. He made his way to the living room, searching for his cellphone, when he heard the door open and close with a quiet click. SeoYun was home. But it was too quiet. He frowned slightly as SeoYun walked in, dragging the grocery bags behind her. The usual cheerful air surrounding the girl was missing. This was definitely weird; he knew she was alright when she left home to get the groceries.
''All OK?'' he asked, taking the grocery bags from her hands as SeoYun lightly brushed her lips against his jaw. and headed inside. SeoYun nodded as she walked into their kitchen. "I am fine." She murmured and moved sluggishly over to the table.
''What would you like to eat today? What shall I make for you?'' he asked as he started putting things in their places. He ended up dropping the tin of red beans as he tried to put the meat and veggies in the refrigerator. The noise was enough to bring SeoYun out of her daze.
''I ll do that. I don't want our kitchen to be destroyed,'' she mumbled as she pushed him away from the counter. NamJoon mock resisted her, which earned him an exasperated smile from the girl. He pinched her cheek and the smile widened.
''Can we have some fried chicken and beer instead? He asked suddenly,'' I know you went out for the grocery but I just feel like it.'' She looked up through her bangs, surprise showing faintly behind those bright eyes before fading into a small barely detectable smile. She shouldn't be surprised. He knew her better than perhaps even she herself did.'' it sounds good. I ll order while you freshen up.''
He smiled to himself. Food. Food always worked well for SeoYun. Now only if she would tell him what got her so worried suddenly...

Three quarters of an hour later, NamJoon and SeoYun were seated in the living room with their usual order of fried chicken on their traditional dinner table. SeoYun fiddled with the TV remote searching for something to watch while eating. NamJoon looked at her amused. He knew the girl was bursting to talk to him and yet at the same time she was trying to hold back. He wondered for the nth time that evening what had got her so jittery. SeoYun was a talkative girl so at least there was no dearth of topics for discussion. So this sudden quiet was weird.
'' let's just watch something on Netflix,'' he told her, as he took the remote from her hand.
SeoYun sighed again and opened the box to eat as NamJoon selected her favourite series to play. Then he opened the beer can and placed it before her, silently sitting next to her, slowly sipping his beer. Normally he wouldn't approve of alcohol on work days, but today was an exception.
Together they sat there, neither saying a word as they ate slowly before SeoYun placed her can on the table carefully and blurted out,'' Joonie??Do we have spark?''
NamJoon blinked surprised, and repeated slowly, "...Spark??"
SeoYun hid her face behind her raised fingers, nodding slightly. "Like, like, you know...that something exceptional? The fireworks? " She added quietly, " in our relationship?"
Alarms rang in NamJoon's mind as he finally placed down his beer too. He knew what SeoYun was talking about; he was not a stupid man. "Are you unhappy with our relationship?" he asked, his voice low and jaw beginning to jut out.
"No!" She waved her hands frantically."I did not mean it like that..."
"Then what is the problem?" He asked, the sirens dying down to ignorable bells. Beer. Beer was soothing. Or today he might need something stronger after all. He took his can again and sipped deep, feeling his mind calm as the fizzy liquid scorched its way down his throat.
