Hermione
I spent the next morning trying to figuring out how to fix things with Oscar. I finally figured something out. Pulling out my phone I texted the only person I could trust that wasn't a Díaz.
Tito👌🏽
I need you to give me
Benito's sisters numberWhy? Nvm not my
business.
(***)***-**** Her name
is Sofia. Please be nice.Thank you. Always.
Later that afternoon I decided I needed to actually talk to Sofia. I didn't do any research on her whatsoever. I didn't want Oscar to think I was snooping around his 'love life' or lack there of. Pulling out my phone I decided it was time to text her.
Sofia
Hi Sofia, I'm Hermione.
I'm good friends with
Cortez. I was hoping we
could talk about some things.Of course. The park
in Santos territory?Sounds great. See you
in 10?I'll be there.
I grabbed a water bottle and made my way to the front door. Walking down the block I texted Tito letting him know where I was going incase something happened. When I got to the park there was a little girl on the swing set and an older woman around Tito's age pushing the girl. I sat at the picnic table and texted Sofia. The woman pushing the girl walked over and sat in front of me still watching the little girl playing. "Are you Hermione?" She asked me with a sweet smile. "Yes, you Sofia?" The woman nodded.
She had dark brown hair and big doe eyes. Her face looked so pretty but her smile looked like Benito's. So this is his sister. "How can I help you?" I took a few deep breathes looking for my words. "Are you Oscar's ruca?" She nodded with a sigh. Was she not proud of that? "Well I'm here because Oscar is trying to remove the claim sooner than he's supposed to." She looked a little scared. "You're the girl he's been talking about." I raised an eyebrow looking at her. "Cortez's best friend, Hermione Cruze. He's in love with you, that's why he's removing the claim sooner. He told me if any danger comes to you he'd remove it early to protect you." She smiled at me.
"I figured I would let you know ahead of time so you can get away from Freeridge sooner so you can be safe too." She looked so thankful I had come to tell her. "He was right. You are selfless. Thank you for letting me know what is goi." She was cut off by the little girl running over yelling at her. "Mamá can I have a juice box?" Sofia smiles handing the little girl her juice box and sending her back to play again. "You have a child." It was a statement more than a question. So was Oscar telling the full truth? "Is she yours?" Sofia smiled wide before nodding. "Is Oscar her padre?" She laughed at my question.
"Look, I love Oscar a lot, more than most people should. But we are only friends. He made sure me and my family were safe. If it wasn't for him, I probably wouldn't be alive right now. When Oscar claimed me I was in love with my boyfriend. I explained everything to my boyfriend and he was understanding. We ended up dating even with the claim. I got pregnant and Oscar demanded I tell everyone the baby was his. Now that he's removing the claim my boyfriend, my baby, and I are leaving. So no, Oscar only has Cortez and that's it."
Knowing Oscar and Sofia are only friends took a big weight off my shoulders. "Thank you for talking with me. I hope you use the information I gave you and put it to good use." She nodded as I stood up and walked away. As soon as I was around the corner I ran towards the Díaz house. As I ran into the yard all the homies were there but the one Santo I was looking for wasn't sitting in his usual spot. "Where's Spooky?" I ask trying to catch my breath. Tito looked at me surprised that I was out running around by myself. "In his room." I nodded running into the house and slamming the door. I'm tired of thinking, I needed to act.
"Oscar!" I exclaimed as I burst into his room. There he stood staring at me. I took long strides until I stood directly in front of him. "I love you." I spoke before grabbing his shirt and pulling him into a passionate kiss. It took less than a second for him to kiss me back. He took dominance over me and pulled me in closer to deepen the kiss. After a few minutes he slowly pulled away. "Oscar Díaz, I love you with everything in my heart. I should have listened to you about Sofia. I'm so sorry." I hugged him.
"You went to talk to Sofia, didn't you?" I nodded feeling ashamed for not believing him completely. "Are you mad?" I asked still holding on looking up at him with sad eyes. He shook his head and hugged me back. "I can't be mad at someone I love." I tired to keep the smile off my face but I guess it didn't work. "I told her you were removing the claim soon so she could leave safely. She also told me about her toddler. She's a cute kid." He smiled. "She's not mine but I wanted everyone to think she was, so she wasn't in any danger." The look in his eyes were telling me different though.
"Be honest with me please?" He nodded before I made him sit on the bed. "Did you want everyone to think that little girl was yours, because maybe deep down you want more kids or at least more family?" He looked like he was in deep thought for a few minutes. "Maybe I did want more kids, maybe I did want more family, but I don't want that now unless it's with you Hermione." In that moment I felt my heart swell three times it's size. He was being honest and that's all I've actually wanted in a relationship.
