Something about the way the stars danced against the boy's walls, glowing their soft, fading green. They had been up there for years. A couple had even begun to fall from the ceiling as the grip of the sticky backs had begun to wear away. With each star that was lost, another was there to replace it. There were a couple of packets stuffed away in an old drawer, keeping them as safe as he could make them from any other damage. While the old stars were rather useless, he never dared to let go or throw them away, so he hid them within corners of his room or gave them to the people he deemed essential to him.
A husk of a person was left within this star's destruction. Brown curly hair being tugged at by shaky, trembling hands. No one was home. No one was answering the knocking at the boy's mind. Those bright, lively blues were now drowning within the sorrows of his ocean. A bottom lip that quivered with each inhale he took. Something his eyes were longing to do was see. To not ache at the pain of pushing more tears out of his sensitive tear ducts. The tightly made shirt suffocated his airway, holding his throat hostage and making it harder for his body to take in the oxygen his teeth even allowed to pass.
All was silent besides the small intakes and exhales of air from the boy's lungs. A soft chime from his phone finally makes him finally move. His curled-up ball slowly unveils as the hand wiping away the dried tears reaches for the electronic device. As the blurred vision focuses on the lock screen image, he couldn't help but let out a low whimper. There was nothing on his screen. No message, no calls. Nothing but a ghost of a memory. Taking the opportunity to distract himself, he swiped his screen to the side, lazily tapping at the screen, letting the home screen explode with the galaxy and its wonders.
Flicking his home screen up, letting his fingers trail over all the applications before settling his finger against his gallery. Pictures, videos, and just pure moments of joy and happiness filled his screen.
Pressing the play button on one of the videos, letting it play as his eyes shut, wanting to relive the moments they had together.
The video had the male sat upon his green bed, oak framed and all made neatly. The cameraman was shaky as the phone was set to stare right at the boy. He had a bright smile, those dazzling blue eyes glimmer within the soft hue of the sunset that had come through the window at the perfect time.
'Julian!' The boy spoke, leaving a name to a blank face. 'What are you doing?' he giggled. Shifting his weight, making the bed creak, slowly shifting, so his left foot was below his behind.
Soon another figure had joined the recording, the phone set up on the desk across from the bed, just enough to get a clear view of another young man with jet black hair and hazel coated eyes. A bright, devilish smile was drawn upon his face as he moved himself to sit behind the male, wrapping his arms around his waist and pulling him back onto the bed.
'Conner... I would like to tell you how much of a dork you are.' Peeking his head up and over the male's shoulder before nuzzling his nose against the skin on his neck, only grazing his lips to the soft spray of freckles against Connor's shoulder. 'But you are my dork. And I'll never let you go. Just like you cling to these dumb stars -'
'They aren't dumb!' The brown-haired male faints offence before turning his body to face the male. 'You promise you'll never leave me?'
A short nod was exchanged between Julian to Conner. Planting their soft lips to one another's before the video gets cut off.
Stars had been all that Conner knew for years until he met Julian.
Tonight wasn't just another star. It was his other half.
