Checkmate Black

"But why haven't you got Occlumency lessons any more?" Hermione asked frowning at Harry, "I've told you, Snape reckons I can carry on by myself now I've got the basics." Hermione questions Harry on whether he's still having funny dreams, Mikayla sent Harry a look of disapproval that he hasn't told Ron and Hermione what he did during his last Occlumency. When Hermione suggests Harry go to Snape and ask for lessons yet again, Harry forcefully says no and told Hermione to drop it.

It's the first day of the Easter Holidays, the foursome sat in the Gryffindor Common Room. Hermione spent most of the day, drawing up three revision timetables, one for Ron, Harry and herself. Mikayla copied Hermione's timetable changing it slightly to fit in Quidditch and Elites. The boys decided that having Hermione do their timetables will be easier than having arguments with her about them. Ron has then been startled by his recent discovery that the OWL exams were in six weeks. "How can that come as a shock? It's Easter break." Mikayla questioned Ron, who shrugged whilst watching Hermione colour code his subjects on his timetable, "I dunno, there's been a lot going on." Hermione gave Ron his finished timetable, he smiled pointing out she left a square empty every week. "That's for Quidditch." Hermione informed him, causing Ron's smile to fade. "What's the point? We've got about as much chance of winning the Quidditch Cup this year as Dad's got of becoming Minister for Magic."

Mikayla, Ron and Ginny headed down to the Quidditch pitch together. "Seriously Ron, all that you're lacking is confidence in yourself." Mikayla argued with Ron who's complaining that training is useless as they hadn't a chance in winning. "Plus Gin is gonna get us a win, right G?" Mikayla turns to the red head who laughs nodding. Alicia came out of the changing rooms rushing towards them, "seriously Black?" Mikayla looked at Alicia confused on the what she was talking about, and was faced with even more confusion as to why Umbridge exited the changing rooms. "Ah there you are Miss Black..." Mikayla looked at Ron and Ginny for some help as to what was going on. "Due to your relationship with Miss Chang, and how short your fuse is, you are here by removed from the Gryffindor Quidditch team until further notice." Mikayla's jaw dropped in shock, "Is Cho banned as well?" Ginny questioned Umbridge, who smirks looking at Mikayla, "no she is not as she doesn't have a history of violence or share the same genes as a certain mass murderer." Mikayla felt like she had just been hit by a truck. "Alicia, I'm so sorry." Mikayla voice shook, her eyes began filling with tears. Alicia looked at Mikayla with pity, "oh and your also hereby removed from the Elites." "What!" Ginny yelled in shock. Mikayla nodded understanding Umbridge, "you can inform Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick about your removal of both organisations." Mikayla spun around, "Checkmate Black." Umbridge laughed as Mikayla slowly made her way up to the castle.

Mikayla went to Flitwick first, she knocked on his office door and waited silently in the corridor. Flitwick beamed at the sight of the blonde, and began rambling about what song he wants her to perform next. "Professor I think you need to sit down for what I'm about to say..." Flitwick looked at Mikayla confused as to why she was so serious but he followed her suggestion. "Professor, as of today I have been removed from the Elites by our Headmistress due to complicated relationship with Miss Cho Chang." Flitwick looked at Mikayla as if she just told him that she was dying. She definitely felt like she is. "Professor Umbridge has removed you from the Elites?" Mikayla nodded, "and the Gryffindor Quidditch Team." Flitwick was stuck for words, Mikayla stood up and headed for the door. "I must be off to tell Professor McGonagall the bad news." Mikayla left her Charms Professor in disbelief as she made her way to the Transfiguration Department. Her heart was thumping in her chest, that she couldn't hear anything but her heart beat.

She knocked on McGonagall's classroom door, "come in." McGonagall called. When Mikayla walked in she was surprised to see Oliver Wood standing across from McGonagall desk giving her a gift. "Oliver?" Mikayla questioned her eyes, he smiled and gave Mikayla a hug hello. "What brings you here Miss Black?" McGonagall question, for some reason Oliver being here made Mikayla's truth struggle a bit. "I have some really bad news." McGonagall furrowed her eyebrows at the blonde to spit out what she was trying to say. "Headmistress Umbridge has removed me from the Gryffindor Team due to my complex relationship with Cho Chang." "WHAT!" Oliver and McGonagall yelled causing Mikayla to flinch violently out of fear. "She has removed me from the Elites and Quidditch, due my history and my genetics." Mikayla slumped down in the chair in front of McGonagall's desk. McGonagall looked furious, Oliver looked disappointed and Mikayla looked crushed by the other twos looks. "What about Chang?" Oliver questioned, Mikayla signed shaking her head, "Cho gets to stay in both." McGonagall stormed out of the room, leaving Mikayla and Oliver alone. "How's the rest of the team?" Oliver questioned and Mikayla scoffed. "Let's just say that Umbridge has almost completely changed our team. Only two original members left, Katie and Alicia." Oliver sat down on the seat next to Mikayla in disbelief. "What brings you back to Hogwarts?" Mikayla questioned looking up at the man Oliver had become, "bringing McGonagall a thank you gift for all the help she gave me over the years." Mikayla smiled at the thought of the nice gesture. "Do want to see your old common room again?" Oliver jumped up smiling, "I'd love to." Mikayla got up and walked with Oliver to Gryffindor tower. He stopped in the entrance hall and began to read all of Umbridge's rules, "this one's mad ain't she..." Mikayla agreed with him nodding, before they returned to their journey to Gryffindor Tower.

Mikayla spoke the password, and when the portrait swung open, Harry, Fred, George and Lee were all talking in the corner. They all looked up to see who was coming into the common room, and when they saw Oliver, they jumped up and rushed to say their hellos. "How come you're not at training?" Harry questioned once he acknowledged Mikayla's presence with Wood. "That Umbridge one kicked her off the team because of what happened between her and Chang." Oliver answered for Mikayla, the others looked like they've just seen a ghost for the first time. "She kicked you off the team because Cho was harassing you?" George asks, Mikayla nods clapping her hands together awkwardly, "and get this, Chang gets to stay in both clubs." This made them look at Mikayla confused again, "I've also been kicked out of the Elites." Harry looked like he could kill someone, George and Lee looked angry and Fred looked a little guilty, Mikayla wondered whether it was about the kiss he shared with Cho. "Anyhoo, I'm going to rewrite my revision timetable, now that I have no more extracurriculars." She smiles, excusing herself and making her way up to her dorm.
