Hopefully that was a good description. The idea for this book is actually a sort of old concept of mine, about a year old and it's sat in the drafts for a while so I've repolished it.
The basic gist of the original idea was of a runaway lover, here one second and gone the next. She was the love interest of the two main characters, who were siblings, twins. The twins were a boy and girl because we love bi icons.
While these two were indulging in the mystery that was Her, they find one day that she's disappeared and no longer shows up at the galas. With the amount of money they have they go on their own investigation and the original idea for the plot of the book just thins out there. I don't really know where it was going but I do know now, even if it's different because this is between a lesbian couple..."couple" and the storyline is different as well.
There are POC (People of color) characters in this book the main character is a black character.
She goes by all pronouns but she mainly prefers she/they pronouns whichever one is easier for whoever she talks to in her life is what they refer to her as. I use she/her pronouns for her mostly but yeah. She does happen to be in an interracial relationship with her lover though who is caucasian/white I still haven't decided on whether or not she's going to be mixed with something else.
There is a lot of representation in this book so far in my opinion because on wattpad there's a lack of actual full length books about same sex couples that isn't all about the sex or isn't a fan fiction. A lot of times I see mlm (man loving man) books on here and I read them and there's a lot of sex but I definitely appreciate the fluff and sweet moments in between where they actually build the relationship between the characters instead of them ducking their way into each other's love lives.
I do however, end up quitting some books halfway through because the relationship seems unnatural, like there's difference between friends with benefits to lovers and friends with benefits to fuck buddies. Like I don't only want to see sex what about my ace gay people or my demi gay people or t he aro gay people. What about lesbian relationships that aren't based off of heteronormative stereotypes.
There's butch lesbians, stone lesbians, femme's, stud's, theres cottagecore lesbians, gremlin lesbians, POC lesbians not every single lesbian is a small delicate white girl. Great representation but if this isn't too much to ask MORE please it's so nice seeing representation for all the different types of people within the LGBTQ+ community. I've come across ONE book where the main character is non-binary and uses they/them pronouns and it's by a no binary author and that's it.
I have another book in my drafts where one of the main character's is trans and hasn't fully transitioned yet and he doesn't plan to! There's a lot of shit were missing. I see all of the hetero stereotypes and representation but no LGBTQ representation, if there is again it's almost always a delicate white girl and like not al lesbians are feminine and not all lesbians are masculine it's almost like they're individuals as well. They have individual quirks and flaws and they aren't just a square character who only fits these stereotypes.
I'm ranting I apologize but what I'm saying is this book does have POC characters, who don't fit stereotypes not all of the black characters are going to be loud, not all of the asian characters are smart, not all of the native american characters know their history/heritage/culture because a lot of it has been erased by colonization. Not all of the Mexican or hispanic characters know how to speak spanish or portuguese, etc; Yes they exist!!
I'm still ranting lmao but I'm pretty sure I got my point across.
There's so much representation in this book but at the same time I won't be able to fit all of it no matter how hard I try but there will be major and minor characters that do fit into some of these roles. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.
Author rants a lot. Sorry.
OH YEAH DONT STEAL MY SHIT
