A little girl in 1st grade, crushing on a 5th grader boy. She’s this little cream-skinned girl with a short black hair and chubby face. And secretly watching that tall lean boy shoot hoops on the court with his friends.

On 2nd grade, the boy’s older brother hosted a town dance but since his brother was away, he’s the one who entertained the guests. That girl wore a little red dress while she watched everyone dance around—including him. Unknowingly, that boy noticed a cute little girl on a red dress at the far corner but gave no further thought after that.

Years later.

“Hey, I’m gonna visit my cousin Ruben. Wanna come?” Dante asked his friend Paul.

“Sure.”

Upon arriving, only one thing seemed to hold Paul’s attention. Levie, Ruben’s younger sister.

From then, Paul never ceased to visit that house until he courted her for a year. Just before Levie graduated high school, she gave him her sweet ‘yes’.

Coz Paul was more than 4 years her senior, he influenced her to take up civil engineering so he could help her adjust as well as teach her the basics of that course. He became her mentor.

Paul was a chick-magnet, with a soft heart. About a year of their relationship, Levie noticed that Paul rarely fetches her from school or visit her house. That’s because he’s been busy on his other girlfriend. She confronted him.

“Break up with her.”

“I can’t. Listen to me. You’re the one I love. She’s just—a sideline. She just became my girlfriend because I pity her. She likes me so much,” he shrugged.

“Then we’re breaking up.” That’s when Paul gave her his time but he won’t break up with the other girl. Levie didn’t give him up. She demand more and more of his time so he won’t spend it with that girl until that girl broke up with Paul for not having enough time with her. This time Levie won. And they came back to their routine.

Months passed.

“Urgh! So tired. I can’t make this damn project anymore!” Paul complained.

“Fine. I’ll do it,” Levie said. It was a fair trade since Paul had been helping her a lot on her studies. So she did his project until past midnight. The next day, she saw Paul, very red-eyed and looked like he didn’t get any sleep.

“What happened? I’ve been waiting for you to give this project—“

“I need to tell you something,” and that’s when he confessed. He had a girl dorm mate who had been parading herself in front of him just in her towels. She’d been brushing herself against him when she came out of her shower. That evening, that girl’s door was quite ajar. He’s curious so he peeked and he saw her, removing her shower towels. She smiled invitingly at him. Again, his soft heart can never refuse a woman’s invitation. It would be just ‘ungentlemanly’. So he came in and locked the door. He kissed her and she didn’t protest. But just when he was about to take it to the next level, the girl spoke, “If we’re gonna do it, you should marry me.” That’s when he fled. Paul told Levie that he would never risk it if it would mean marriage to a woman other than her.

Levie was beyond caring. She was sobbing her heart out since he did it again. He cheated because of his ‘soft heart’.

“YOU. ARE. SHAMELESS! I DID YOUR FREAKIN’ PROJECT SO YOU WOULDN’T GET TIRED! I STAYED AWAKE ALL NIGHT FOR THIS STUPID PROJECT OF YOURS AND THERE YOU ARE! ROMANCING WITH A SLUT!” Levie vent her anger as she hit Paul with his project. The papers scattered in the air. When she got tired of hitting him, she just sat and sobbed and nagged.
