Accidental Christmas

I, Calem, hate the holidays. I just don't see the point in any of it. Yet, here I am, stuck in a café with my friends on Christmas eve.

"Calem! Cheer up a bit! Its Christmas!" Said Shauna. She loved holidays and all the festivities that come with it.

"Yeah! Christmas is a happy time! So smile!" Said Trevor. I gave him a blank look and he shied away from me a little. I never took him as the holiday loving type but he was.

Then there's Tierno. He always made sure we had fun on days like today. I don't know why he felt obliged to do so, but he always organized something special for us during the holidays. "You know... We should exchange gifts tomorrow! We could even have a party here at the café and invite everyone! (Meaning whoever wanted to show up to a party on Christmas at the café in one of the most festive towns in all of Kalos. Snowbelle city.)

"That sounds like fun." I said. My friends all gave me blank stares in return.

"What?"

"You? Think this is fun?"

"Well"

"No, you dont do you?"

"I don't"

"Well that explains your extremely enthusiastic holiday spirit"

"My what?"

"Oh never mind. Just go. Come to the party if you want."

"Yeah." I got up from the table and bowed my head slightly to each of them and grabbed my bag before heading out into the cold snow.

I trudged through the snow, heading up to one of my favorite spots in the whole city. That was when I saw her. Her honey hair tucked under a navy knit hat. She had a matching coat with gold accents and some matching navy boots with black tights. She looked serene at that moment and I would have hated ruining the moment if she didn't look over at me with a large smile across her face. I walked over to her and sat down in the spot next to her.

"Hey."

"Hey."

It was a casual greeting without any strings attached. It was horribly blunt and I liked it.

"So, its Christmas eve huh?" I asked.

She nodded. "Yup. I don't care much for holidays like that though."

It caught me off guard. I thought that Serena would be pumped for the holidays because she just seemed like the type to have a lot of holiday spirit.

"I never pegged you as one who doesn't like the holidays, Serena."

"Ha. Its one of my many secrets."

"You must have a lot then."

"Eh, not too many." She said playfully.

"Well I don't like the holidays either. I find them to be such frivolous things and really I don't see what all the fuss is about." I said to Serena. She looked up at the dark sky and snowflakes were falling lightly down around her.

"Its so peaceful here isn't it?" She smiled.

"Yeah. Whenever my family visits Snowbelle city I always come to this spot."

Serena turned to me an I looked over at her. "Well, even though you don't like the holidays and I could care less... I got you something. Actually Shauna dragged me to the store and said we needed to buy gifts for everyone right away."

I laughed. "Sounds like Shauna to me, but you really didn't have to get me anything. I mean... I hadn't thought of getting anyone anything to be honest."

She handed me a small blue box with a shiny black ribbon tied around it.

"You don't have to worry about getting me anything. Just take this."

"Uh.... Thank you."

She looked at me expectantly and gestured for me to open the box. I opened it and inside was a picture of the two of us when we went to Lumiose city and bumped into a kind photographer who wanted to take our picture. It was labled «Me and Calem, Lumiose October 15» and on the back was a small message I told myself not to read yet.

"Wow. I.... I didn't think you had kept this."

"I keep pictures of all our adventures. Although I only have pictures of us from Santalune when Viola gave me that extra camera she ordered by accident. I have it with me right now."

"Well thank you. I'll find a frame for it when I go back home to see my mom since my dad left for a competition in Hoenn."

"Hey! Why don't we take picture right now? It is Christmas eve after all... And I've been itching to take a picture all day"

I shrugged. "Why not?"

She smiled and took out her camera. I smiled and did a peace sign and she stuck out her toungue and wrapped her arm around my neck. The camera flashed and then we assumed our normal positions again. She looked at the photo with a large smile on her face. Serena shoved the camera back into her bag and stood up.

"I have to go call my mom. Thanks for taking a picture with me and don't worry about getting me anything for Christmas. Your laugh is worth more then anything you could have gotten me." She smiled and waved before running off to go call her mom.

I smiled to myself and looked down at the gift in my hands. I moved my scarf down from my face and flipped over the photo.

Thanks for your smile. I hope I can see it again one day. P.S. I bet your laugh is just as magnificent as your smile.

Hey guys! Im posting this on christmas eve and just in time for the holidays. Now, no this will not affect the story progression at all and it will not actually be a part of the story itself. Yes, the events that happen in the story will be mentioned in this and events mentioned in this will be mentioned in the story. However, it is not in any way affiliated with the storyline at all except for it being the holiday special and some of the events wil be taken from this and added in to the actual story itself.

Sorry for any confusion but, I am actually realy horrible at explaining things so here's to hoping that made sense to all of you and you understand. Anyways, happy holidays or merry christmas or seasons greetings or whatever!
