Different students gather around a covered court. The stage is seen from the view as the camera shifts from one circle of students to another, chatting.
Class dismissal sounds through the bell, and more students walk around to prepare going home on a Friday afternoon.
In front of the stage, a long table is set, covered in red cloth, thumbtacks pin it to the wood. Three chairs were occupied by three students: Melchor Katangis, Sara Dimasala, and Marco Banaag.
Marco:
[Shouts to Chris on the stage, mic testing] Bakla, ready na!
Chris:
Sound check, sound... Hello, hello, hello... Sound check...
Marco:
Chris, start na! [Louder than the last call]
Chris:
Ladies and gentlemen, my name is Chris Galicia, and I am your host for today's audition sa ating Tawag ng Tanghalan, Teatrong Pampanitikan!
Scene jumps to Greg, Jin, and André, standing nearby the judges on the table. Streams of students traffic the area on both sides of the covered court. Some teachers loll along the fences, checking on the event's program.
Chris:
Ayan! Halina't manood ng ating puspusang paghahanap ng natatanging talento ngayon school year! Ngunit bago natin isalang ang una nating kalahok, ipakilala muna natin ang ating mga hurado... Club organizer ng taon, at With Highest Honors last school year, please give a round of applause to Melchor Katangis, a Grade 9 student.
Melchor is met with cheers and claps. He stands and waves happily to be recognized.
Chris:
Sunod, ang ating punong manunulat ng Sirkulo, isang Grade 10 student, at ang pinakamatangkad na estudyanteng makikilala niyo sa org, walang iba kung hindi si Marco Banaag! Palakpakan po natin siya.
Marco remains seated, hostile to the audience. He is met with jeers and boos. He turns around from his seat and sees André who makes eye contact with him.
André shifts on his spot, noticed by Jin. Jin looks at him and places an elbow on his shoulder.
André:
Ano ba, Jin? Mabigat.
Jin:
[Removes his elbow and drapes his arm around André instead] Nagpasa ka ba? Ipopost nila sa bulletin 'yung makakapasok.
André:
Sa akin na lang 'yun.
Jin:
Aaaaahhh! So, nagpasa ka nga?
André did not answer. He looks at Marco's spot again and sees him whispering something to Sara. Sara turns around a bit, glances at André, and whispers something back to Marco.
Chris:
[Tone changes from lively to flat] At ang pangatlong judge, si Sara. Tara na't umpisahan ang search for the new Teatrong Pampanitikan member!
Sara:
Impakta ka! [Shouts at Chris onstage]
Audience from the front laugh.
Greg:
[Whispers to Jin] Dude, dapat pala sumali ako dito. Exposure din 'to.
Jin:
[Laughs maniacally] Wala ka namang talent umarte.
Greg:
[Teases Jin] Dapat pala ikaw 'yung sumali. Magaling ka naman umarte. Napaniwala mo nga si ano eh...
Jin elbows Greg hard on the belly.
