While I was finishing the thing Jade called 'salad', I could see his discomfort, the stress in his eyes. I grabbed onto the fabric of his shirt, making him turn to me.

"What is it? I can tell you're upset..." I asked.

"O-oh, it's nothing. I just had a question for you, but I don't think your ready to answer it." He said, scratching his head.

I felt bad, all I've done here was answer a few questions, it seems like I'm an inconvenience here, because I'm different. I didn't want to be different, I wanted to help them.

"I'll answer it. I swear." I replied with a uneasy smile.

"Really? Okay.." He started,"I apologize if this offends you or anything, but.. can you bring out your wings..?"

He wants to see my wings. I looked down and silently thought. I knew they were unsightly, and I haven't cleaned them since I've fell, but they are the things that make me different.

"I can.. but you probably don't want to see them." I said.

"Please?" He pleaded.

"They are ugly. You really wouldn't want to see them." I explained, looking away from his gaze in sadness.

Suddenly, I'm engulfed in a hug.

"Everything about you is beautiful. I will love any and all of your features." He said warmly, pulling me close.

I sighed out in content, before gently pushing him away.

"Let's go outside.." I suggested, getting off the chair and walking towards the door.

"Alright, we can go to the backyard, everyone is training right now, so your fine." He responded.

I walk out a sliding glass door at the back of the house and out to the open yard. Taking in a deep breath, I pulled off my shirt so it wouldn't get ripped or ruined.

"Stand back.." I mumbled.

I sucked in a breath, before I felt a sharp pain on my back. I could feel a mass pushing through my skin, I bet Jade could clearly see it. I groaned out as I felt my wings extend out and into the air, I sighed in relief once the slight pain subsided. In the corner of my eye, I saw my wings. They weren't pretty, that's for sure.
They were a charcoal black, dried blood spotted them, and they were very tender.

"Wow..." Jade breathed, looking at them.

"They are ugly, aren't they?" I sighed.

"No.. they are beautiful..," He said,"may I touch them?"

I hesitantly nodded, glancing at him as he came closer to my wings.
I flinched when I felt his hand on them. He pulled it away immediately and apologized.

"I'm sorry, did I hurt you?" He asked with concern lining his voice.

"Oh! N-no, they are just sensitive, I haven't brought them out since my fall.." I explained.

"Okay, I'll be gentle." He replied.

He carefully touched them, and once he saw I was comfortable, he started to feel them. I could see him smile as he felt my wings.

"They are very strong, I can tell." He mumbled.

"Mm, well they are supposed to help me fly. But I don't think I'm going to be able to fly.." I said, looking down at the grass.

"Why?" He asked, looking at me.

"I don't know how, but I just know. I can't fly anymore." I frowned.

"Hey, that's okay. We can still get around through cars and planes, so you will be okay." He comforted, rubbing my arm.

"Okay."

He stroked my wings carefully, and it felt relaxing until I heard him gasp.

"W-what??" I asked frantically.

"A feather fell out.. I'm sorry." He replied sadly.

"Oh.. I think that's normal. It's kind of like shedding." I said.

"Do you mind if I keep it? It's very pretty." He smiled.

I beamed back at him, and nodded.

"A-alpha?" I heard a slightly familiar voice behind me.

I turned towards the voice, to discover it's Jade's best friend, Jonathan.

"W-what the hell is she?!" Jonathan stuttered, backing up. I could sense he was afraid of me.
I looked away, tears brimming my eyes. He probably thinks I'm a monster or something.

I folded my wings back away while Jade dealt with Jonathan. I slipped my shirt back on and held my arm, waiting for Jade.

"She could be a threat to the pack, Jade!" Jonathan yelled, glaring at me threateningly.

"No, she's not! She's just different!" Jade yelled back with just as much force.

"She's not one of us, no one will approve of her as the Luna!" Jonathan said.

"JONATHAN!" My mate's voice boomed, and I felt like shrinking under the voice.

Jade came over to me and pulled me into a hug, keeping me close to him.

"YOU WILL NOT SPEAK ABOUT MY MATE LIKE THAT, YOU HEAR ME?" Jade shouted in his alpha voice, and he seemed a little scary.

"Y-yes alpha.." Jonathan said, cowering back a little.

Jade sighed, before apologizing. "I'm sorry, I'm protective over my mate."

"No.. I'm sorry. I would've done the same thing if it was my mate." He said, rubbing the back of his head head.

They gave each other a hug, before Jonathan waved goodbye and left.

"Well, that was an event." Jade mumbled, rubbing his temples.

"Mmm." I murmured, hugging my arms to my chest. I knew I was different, and I was afraid of how the others would act, like Jonathan had said.

"Don't worry about what he said. It'll all be okay, alright?" Jade smiled down at me.

I wanted to believe him, but I could sense the lie. It wouldn't be all okay, but I nodded my head anyway so he wouldn't keep worrying about me.

"Well. Let's go back inside, sound good? We can chill on the couch." He said.

"Yeah sure!" I agreed, and we walked back inside.
