The Moving Day

"Finally, the day has come!" I said as I woke up. I had been planning for this day since like forever. There were a whole lot of mixed emotions in me. I was obviously very happy and excited since a new chapter of my life was about to start but a bit anxious too as I needed to go to a new place, a new university, a new flat among many new people. Everything in my life was about to change.

As I was wondering about how everything would go, I heard my mom coming up the stairs. She knocked on the door. "My princess, are you up?" She came in and looked at me with pride. Her eyes were filled with tears. She asked, "Excited? Today I feel like you've grown up already and a bit too fast."

"Ya mom. I know. But don't get emotional now or I will cry too."

She hugged me as if it was our last.

"No,no. I wasn't going to get emotional. It's just that I'm gonna miss you, Samara."

"I will miss you too momma. You know what I don't even know if I'll be able to make it or not. Living alone away from you all..."

"God, not again. It's your habit to get scared before doing something new. I know that you're ready to be living on your own and it's not that far you know. The university is just a 3 hour drive from here. You can come home whenever you want."

"I know but still."

"Oh, come on now. Just get ready or else we're gonna be late. I'll check if you've packed all the necessary things or not."

"Okay."

When I went downstairs, my parents had already kept the suitcases and other packages into the trunk of my car.

"All ready to go?" Dad asked.

"Yup."

"I am really sorry that I can't come right now. I'll come early morning tomorrow with your little brother."

"I understand Dad. There is no need to worry. Mom's gonna stay over tonight.  I'll see you tomorrow."

"Bye. And drive safe."

"Yeah, I will."

It was a long drive. Mom and I talked about all the important things that needed to be done. I was all set for this new journey of my life.
