“Grandmother, what are you doing here?” Dani looked her in the eye, trying to comprehend the possibilities on how her getting her could have happened.

Her grandmother’s hand slipped from her cheek landing lightly on the bed next to her body, “I have been here since you created this world Dani, but I’m not really your grandmother… I’m more the essence of her. The pain of losing her and the pain of your mother being in the hospital was too much to bear. So when you created this world, all that pain that you felt ended up creating me.”

“So you’re not real… Just like everything else here…” Her eyes lowered at the thought that she was talking to something that was just a figment of her imagination.

“Oh no, I am as real as you are. I feel emotions, breath, and live just like you would. If you cut me I will bleed, if you stab me I will die. I am real, but I am not the same person you knew in your world. I have bits of her in me, but she is not me and I am not her.” She struggled to sit up and Dani rushed to the chance to help her.

Blue stepped forward and cleared his throat to get their attention, “I am sorry to interrupt you both but we have come her for a reason and we need your help. We do not have much time and right now you are wasting our time.” Dani shot him a dark look, not liking the way he was talking to them both.

“You are right, I am sorry. What is it that you need?” She looked at Blue.

“There is a growing darkness that is destroying our world and we have to stop it before it wins. We have to bring back to the light to the beings of this world that are the walls of Dani’s heart. Would you have any idea of where this being is in this area and if the darkness has yet reached them?”

She looked away in thought, racking her old mind for the knowledge they wanted and turned her attention to them when she thought she had it, “Our village is a peaceful place, we have never had to fight for anything and have never been in danger. There is a giant snake that lives near here that is the cause of this. It is our guardian and keeps dangers away from us and helps us to survive. I believe that this snake is who you should find.”

Dani glanced over at Blue with an ‘I told you so’ look, “Would this snake happen to be very large and black with gold markings, and blind?”

“Yes, but the blindness is new. If what you say about this darkness thing is true then I believe it is the cause of the blindness. The snake has grown skittish and has not been seen for a while and we feel it’s because it is hiding. When you are something so powerful that has lost your sight you would feel venerable and scared and would shy away from those that could hurt you. Even though no one here would cause the snake any harm we have no way to tell it so.” She let out a deep sigh, “You must find it and please help it. There must be some way to get its sight back. Without it we are sitting ducks waiting for our death.”

Dani nodded and stood up, “I understand… We will return as soon as we can.”

She looked at Dani, “You will return, your friend will not. He must stay here. I’m afraid that the snake may see him as a threat because of what he is. But you are human, you have no powers and no weapons that I can see, the snake will let you near it with no fear.”

“There is no way I am letting her go alone.” Blue growled, stepping forward in a protective manner.

“I understand.” Dani looked at him, “I will go alone, if I can’t do this on my own then what are the chances that I will be any help with the others. I promise to be careful so please just stay here and wait for me.” She smiled a little at him, “If you’re a good kitty I’ll bring you back a fish.” Walking over to him she got on her tip toes and placed a faint kiss on his cheek, “If I’m not back by tomorrow than you can look for me, but promise me you won’t come after me until then.”
