Like we had gotten back from training way too early, Levi decided to just give us the afternoon to rest and get ready for tomorrow's deep cleaning session. I sighed knowing this man was not the type to play with cleaning and he was strict. Just the thought of having to scrub a spotless corner because his hawk eyes see a microscopic particle of dust. I rolled my eyes to myself as I opened the door to Isabel's room, taking in the peace and quiet before she decided to come in too.

If i was honest, Isabel wasn't even home, she left to go do something I just can't remember what.

I sat down on the cold, wooden floor as I pulled the journal from under her bed. I stared at it for awhile before opening it and grabbing the pen I had placed inside of it the other night.

Should I draw or write?

I tapped the pen on my chin for awhile before deciding I was going to draw. I took the pen and slowly brought it onto the thick, white paper. I moved my hand freely, letting my mind control what it was going to do, what it was going to make. It certainly relaxed me, hearing the sound of pen and paper making contact, the smell of the pen's ink.

I smiled to myself as I finished my drawing and took a good look at it, appreciating how well it had turned out. I had drawn what I thought the ocean would look like. I drew the sunset along with a few houses on a cliff. It seemed peaceful, it seemed happy. I continued to stare at it, just imagining life somewhere so beautiful, life where you could see the stars.

Maybe one day, in the end it exists doesn't it?

I closed the journal and slid it back under Isabel's bed, not too far, but far enough it wouldn't be noticeable.

I sighed and rested my head on the edge of her bed, getting lost in old memories of my childhood, trying to keep myself happy and sane until I figure out how to get Furlan to stop blocking me out.

FLASHBACK

"Josephine, come help me out will you?" I heard my mother say to me as she prepared our dinner.

I smiled, I always loved helping my mom, especially with cooking and stuff! I ran up to where she was, dinner may have been the same thing every night, but the excitement of it was still the same after all of the years.

I looked up at mom and admired her beautiful black locks, her light brown eyes. She was a beautiful lady and I swore to myself she was the prettiest woman I'd ever seen. She always looked at ease when she cooked, it was almost like she just poured her emotions out into a simple, repeated dish. Never once had I seen my mother cry, I've heard her, but never seen tears fall from her eyes.

"Josephine, baby you okay?"

She sweetly said as she crouched down to my level, caressing my cheek as she looked into my grey eyes.

I nodded and gave her a sweet smile of reassurence. I always wondered where my dad was, my mother never spoke of him, but then again why would she? She had no reason to.

"Josephine come here for a second, I want to tell you something."

She called for me from the living room as she tidied the couch.

"Yes mother?"

I said, with a curious look on my face.

She tapped her lap, signaling me to sit on her.

I quickly climbed on her lap, she repositioned me so I had my back to her. She ran her fingers through my hair, untangling some knots she found along the way.
