10k

"Has anyone seen 10k?" I asked as I looked around at the land in front of us.

"He's said he was going to look for supplies." Addy answered from the bed of the truck.

"Yeah well that was a half hour ago what if he's in trouble?" I questioned.

Before anyone could say anything else multiple gun shots rang through the air.

Ignoring the protest from everyone in the truck I jumped out and ran into the woods.

"10k!" I yelled.

As I kept running j could see 10k fighting off three Z's in the distance, one dangerously close to his neck as his gun laid on the floor.

I pulled out my knife and ran forward, stabbing the first Z through the neck before grabbing than second one by the shoulder.

Before I could stab it grabbed me by the shoulders causing me to stumble back.

My foot hit a rock and I fell backwards causing the zombie to fall on me and sink it's teeth into my neck.

I let out a scream of pain as it ripped the flesh from the bone around my neck.

Suddenly a gun shot ran through the air once again and the Z dropped dead beside me.

I rolled over into my side and started coughing as blood poured from the bite mark on my neck.

Suddenly someone grabbed me by the waist and lifted me off the ground before leaving me against a nearby tree.

Now I was face to face with 10k.

"Shit." He cursed as he looked at my neck. "Y/N I had that."

"It didn't look like it from where I was standing." I choked out before coughing again.

"No you can't die." He said as he grabbed my hand.

"10k it doesn't look like I'm gonna live either." I replied, my voice getting a bit raspy.

From over his shoulder I saw the rest of the group appear from the trees.

"Oh God Y/N." Addy said as she walked over and kneeled beside me before examining the wound on my neck.

"We told you not to go." Warren said.

"Since when do I listen." I let out a dry chuckle. "And I saved 10k didn't I?"

"Yeah but you killed yourself kid." Doc replied.

"Don't we all need to make sacrifices in this world?" I questioned before I coughed multiple times.

"What do we do?" 10k asked.

"Is that really a question at this point?" I questioned. "You guys have to kill me."

"Can I talk with her alone before?.......ya know." 10k asked as he shifted to look at Warren.

She just patted his shoulder before walking away with the group, back in the direction of the truck.

"Never thought I would go like this." I said causing 10k to turn back to me.

"Neither did I." He stated as a single read rolled down his cheek.

"If you cry then I'm gonna cry so don't cry." I said causing 10k to chuckle.

"Can't make any promises." He responded.

There was a moment of silence before I said, "10k I don't wanna become one of those things."

"I can't kill you." He argued.

"10k you have to." I began as tears threatened the corner of my eyes. "Of you care about me, if you've ever cares about me. You won't let me become a Z."

"Of course I care about you." I said. "But killing you is too hard."

"10k please." I begged. "Just make it easy for both of us because we both know if you wait till I turn them it'll be a lot harder."

"Okay......." He trailed off as he looked down.

"Hey." I said as I cupped his cheek causing him to look back up at me. "You'll be okay, I know you will."

10k leaned forward and pressed his lips softly against mine before pulling away and testing out foreheads together.

"I'm sorry......" He whispered.

I didn't say anything as he grabbed his gun and stood up before taking a few steps back.

He raised the gun up and aimed it at my head as more tears left his eyes.

"I love you." He said as he almost choked on a sob.

"Love you too." I replied as I closed my eyes and a tear trickled down both of my cheeks.

Before I knew it a gun shot was fired and I could feel the impact on my head before I couldn't feel or see anything.

I was finally free.

10k P.O.V

I lowered my gun and just looked at Y/N as her body fell to the floor with a bullet hole in her head.

I didn't want to leave her body there to be devoured by Z's so I slung my gun over my shoulder before running back to the truck.

I didn't bother to wipe away my tears as I leaned over the side of the truck and searched for the thing I was looking for.

"10k what are you looking for?" Addy asked as a few tears left her eyes.

I ignored her a pulled out a container of gasoline before turning around and walking back into the woods.

When I came across Y/N's body once again I opened the container and dumped the gasoline over her body before pulling out a lighter from my pocket.

I clicked it a few times before a flame appeared and I threw the lighter on he body before watching it go up in flames.

I just stared at the fire for a moment. I can't believe I just killed the one person I care most about in this world.

I sighed before turning around and heading back to the truck once again.

There was a silence as I jumped into he back of the truck and closed the tailgate.

"Drive." Was all I said to Warren through the window to the front.

That was all she needed to start the car and start driving down the road.

I wish I could've saved her. But they always used to say that things happen for a reason so maybe this has to happen.

Y/N was the only thing that was in my mind as I stared at trees that passed by within seconds as we drive down the road.
