Harper was running in the middle of nowhere, on a path leading to the highway. She slowly stopped running, and sat down. She slowly caught her breath back. When she could breathe normal again, she took her phone out of her back pocket. She turned it on. The screen was black. "UGHH." She threw her phone into the tall grass. She could still taste the blood. She looked at the ground, picking up grass. Her brain kept replaying what she saw. Her dad basically swimming in his own blood. She started crying. She was traumatized. After an hour of sitting on the side of the path, crying, thinking, and focusing on things, she finally got back up. She went into the tall grass to find her phone. After picking her phone up, she started walking on the path again. Before she knew it, she was on the highway. She walked on the side, trying not to notice the people staring at her and the blood. She walked all day. After lots of hours of walking, it was sunrise. Someone was nice enough to ask if Harper needed a ride. Of course, she said yes. "Thank you so much, mister. It's been a rough day. I've been walking on the side of this highway for so long." He smiled. "It's cool. You look exhausted. And speaking of looks, you know you have blood on your shirt and chin, right..?" Harper looked down at her fingers. "Yeah... it's been a really rough day." The nice guy looked at the road, then back at Harper. "Hey, you can tell me. I'm harmless. Besides, its gonna be a long drive." She looked at the sunset, and sighed. "So basically, I had a sleepover with my bff for the first time in 2 years, and we kissed. After I packed up and was driving home with my dad, she called me, and asked what the kiss was, and my dad heard. I now know he's homophobic. He bashed my teeth in the car, and started beating me at home. I had to lock myself in my bathroom, but he got in, and I had to drop a vase on his head. I don't know if he's alive, but before I left--" Harper started tearing up. "He was surrounded in his own blood--" Harper started balling. The guy was not expecting that story. "Woah, I don't know what to say..." Harper sniffed. "Yeah, I'm still shook..." The nice guy supported Harper until they arrived at a gas station near my house. Harper got out of the truck. She thanked him and waved at him as he drove off. It was nighttime. Harper walked on the side of the road, walking as fast as she could, trying to Reach my house.
