"Welcome to your new home, Starlight..."

That was the last thing her Diamond had said before leaving Onyx with her Pearl to attend to her work. White Pearl led Onyx through the corridors of the Diamond Palace. What was most ominous about White Pearl was how she just floated across the ground on the tips of her gravity connectors. Onyx kept her silence until the Pearl led her into a room prepared just for her.

My own room... In the Diamonds' palace, she thought.

"You may settle in," White Pearl bowed respectfully, "I must go and aid our Diamond now."

Onyx looked around her new room as White Pearl announced her exit. The room wasn't relatively small, but it wasn't too big either. The walls weren't black, but more of a dark grey, possibly so the Diamonds would be able to tell Onyx from her surroundings by more than just her white eyes. There were no windows in the walls to see the outside of Homeworld, and the lights that kept the room lit were relatively dim.

"I wonder if they thought it's because I was hiding in the shadows when they first saw me, so they think I like hiding in the dark..." Onyx told herself.

Onyx had a platform she could lay on as the Pebbles came into the room to check on her from time to time, making sure everything was alright with her gem, and nothing was wrong with her mentally or emotionally either.

Just then, Onyx's peaceful silence was broken by a sharp gasp as a red gem stepped into the room.

"Do my eyes deceive me..?" she asked herself, "Why it is! You're an Onyx gem!"

Onyx was a little startled by the sudden presence of the strange gem. She wore a very grandiose outfit, had curly red hair, and pinkish skin. She hid her cheeky smile behind a fan that she carried. It looked sharp and dangerous.

"Oh, darling, are you new around here..?" the gem asked.

"U-Umm..." Onyx wasn't a hundred percent certain if she should respond. After all, this gem just randomly waltzed into her room.

"Shy, hmm..? Well, that's fine. It must be difficult being the only gem of your cut." she closed her fan, "My name is Pyrope. I'm one of three Garnets who live inside this palace."

"G-Garnets..?"

"Oh dear," Pyrope rolled her eyes, "Have you been taught ANYTHING since you emerged..? You look so lost, it's laughable!"

Onyx frowned at the unfamiliar gem slightly. Was this gem making fun of her..? Why? Was it funny to taunt an innocent gem?

"Pyrope, what are you doing here..?" a voice called as an orange gem of a similar cut to Pyrope's stepped into the room, not even noticing Onyx yet.

"Hessy, look! We have an Onyx gem living with us now!" Pyrope giggled with excitement.

The orange Garnet turned and made eye contact with their new roomie. Onyx seemed nervous by the soulless gaze Hessonite had. Her stare was just chilling.

"I see..." Hessonite said, scoffing, "I thought this cut of gem had long since disappeared from all records."

"Yet, here is one right in front of us!" Pyrope exclaimed.

At this point, Onyx seemed ready to bolt for the exit, or just hide in the darkest corner like she normally would. These two gems were trespassing on her peace and quiet, and she didn't even know who they were or why they were here. There's no way they were here to meet and greet the new arrival. They didn't seem like the friendly types of gem. Onyx couldn't understand it, but she sensed in their aura that they weren't to be trusted.
