It was nighttime in New York City. Three young agents from the Akron Public Schools Protection Agency were in the middle of a mission. Their leader, Dylan, was riding in a cab through Chinatown, focused, and ready."Alright, we're here," said the driver. "Y'know, I rarely meet a lot of tourists who'd wanna visit Chinatown on the first night in NY. I get a lot of people who ask for the more popular sites. Times Square, Radio City, Rockefeller, you name it. But you're my first one of the night to request Chinatown. Now, uh, could you remind me why?"
"I'm looking for someone," Dylan answered.
The cab driver then dropped Dylan off at the corner of Bowery and Canal St. As the cab left, he began to walk down an alleyway while watching for any suspicious activity. He turned on his digitalwatch and called in one of his partners.
"Brian, this is Dylan," he said. "Any luck?"
"Nothing, Dil. You?"
"Same as you. I'll check back later." Dylan switches over to another partner. "Xenna, what about you?"
A female voice was heard through Dylan's watch. "Nothing weird over here, Dylan." Xenna was standing on top of the building next to the alley Dylan was in. She was on the lookout for suspicious activity as well. Suddenly, she saw something coming from the building next to her.
"Wait. I think I saw something in that window. Someone's definitely in there."
"Checking it out right now."
Dylan pressed a button on one of his straps, and his backpack morphed into a jet pack. He flew up and landed on the fire escape next to the window. It was hard to see what was inside since the lights were off. When he climbed through the window, he was in the bedroom of an apartment.
Suddenly, a flash of light came from another room. Dylan crept over to the doorway. He peeked around the corner and saw a man sitting by a computer in another room. The man was looking at something, but it was too hard to see what it was. Dylan then heard the sound of a printer going off. He looked down to see the man printing something off of the computer. "What is going on?" Dylan thought. He took a step closer but winced when he made a creak in the floorboards.
The man looked back but saw no one by the doorway. The man shut his computer down and stuffed the paper in his coat. He walked out of the apartment, and Dylan followed him. As he approached a corner, Dylan saw the man walking into an elevator. He then went outside and saw him walking out of the building.
"Dylan, he's walking up Bowery," Xenna said through the watch.
"I see him." Dylan hopped over the railing and ignited his jet pack, landing slowly on the ground. He then proceeded to follow the man nearly this time.
The man could sense Dylan following him and started to pick up his speed. Suddenly, he turned a corner and began to run from Dylan.
"Guys, he's making a run for it!" Dylan ignited his jet pack and flew after the man.
The man ran up the fire escape of another building just as Dylan turned the corner. As he climbed, Dylan caught up to him and reached out to grab his shirt, but the man jumped over to the other fire escape. Before he could react, Dylan found himself crashing into another apartment. A family who was lounging in the living room was startled by this sight.
"Forgive me. I'm not gonna hurt you," Dylan reassured. "I'm just passing by, okay?"
Keeping his word, Dylan ran out of the apartment and down the hall. He saw the man running down the fire escape through a window and chased after him. Dylan flew after the man again after reaching outside. The man ran up the streets while trying to lose Dylan. Brian was passing through the streets when he crossed paths with Dylan. Soon, they were flying chaotically around the city.
"Ow!"
"Sorry, Brian."
"Where were you?!"
"Following that guy!"
"Following-AAH!"
They screamed as they crashed into a taxi. The boys landed on the windshield and held on for their lives. The driver, startled, began to drive around wildly. When the cab went over a bump, Brian slammed into Dylan, latching onto his jet pack and accidentally igniting it, sending them skyrocketing again. Xenna came out from the alley after climbing down the fire escape when Dylan and Brian came around the corner.
"Xenna! Duck!" Xenna did just that when the boys flew over her.
"Are you guys insane?!"
"Sorta!"
Suddenly, Dylan spotted the man running down the sidewalk. He gets an idea. He flew after the man as he turned a corner. While they were flying, Dylan turned off his own jet pack and ignited Brian's.
"Man, what are you doing?"
"Just carry me and follow him."
"Alright."
While flying, Dylan got under Brian. Brian began to carry him by his arms. As they were closing in on him, Dylan gave the order.
"Brian, drop me."
"You sure?"
"Yes."
Brian did as he was told and let go of Dylan. The man looked up and saw Dylan diving after him. Before he could make a move, Dylan tackled him and sent him crashing into a pile of trash bags. Xenna caught up to Brian just as he switched off his jet pack. Brian held the man up while Xenna helped Dylan out of the pile.
"Now, who are you?" Dylan ordered. "What are you up to?"
"You're kidding," the man scoffed. "You're just a couple of kids. I'm not telling you."
"Xenna?" Xenna pressed a button on her digitalwatch. Out came two cables, shocking the man.
"Wanna tell us now?"
"Okay. I'll tell you. A guy named Walker. He sent me."
"Who?"
"Walker. Arnold Walker. He's planning on ruining everyone's school year."
The agents looked at each other. Then Dylan said: "Alright...Brian, let him go."
"No!"
"Xenna..." Xenna sighed and folded her arms. "Brian, get him out of here."
"Oh, I will." Brian strapped the man in the jet pack. When he pressed the button, the man screamed as he flew up and out of their sight. "Good thing we got extras back at HQ."
Dylan noticed Xenna walking away, still mad at how the mission turned out.
"I hope you're not mad."
"I'm not."
"It wouldn't make sense if we kept him," Brian explained. "Besides, he said he was sent."
"I'm not upset about that."
"Is this because we almost crashed into you?"
"No?"
"Come on, Xenna." Brian holds her face in his hands. "Look, we're sorry we almost took your pretty head off, okay?" Xenna pushed his hands away from her face. Soon, they were play fighting, which made Xenna laugh.
"Alright, you two. Knock it off," Dylan said. "Now, we need to figure out who this Walker guy is."
"How, man?"
"First, we head back to HQ and tell Chief what happened. Then, we hire recruits."
"Whoa, 'recruits'? Dylan, we can handle this on our own."
"She's right."
"I'm not asking for permission. Now, whoever this guy is, he'll probably have multiple goons like that guy we caught. And with my brother gone, we'll need the extra help we could get."
Brian and Xenna looked at each other. They were unsure about the plan, but Dylan's the leader, and they have to trust him. "Well...who?
