There was no sense of justification in what they did yet I just stood there and looked at them destroy all the flowers I had planted. Bullying is utterly mindless and I am utterly upset in my hidden corner watching them.
They put me on their hit list because I made the mistake of trying to save that random boy on the way to the science lab. He was tall and skinny. I was going to walk by, but he looked up and our eyes met. He looked like a lost puppy. I really like puppies. “Hey Tallman!” I called and rudely pushed into the centre of the gang around him. “The Principal had me walking all over looking for you. Come nah!” Their surprise at my audacity and Tallman’s sense of self preservation made our escape quick and easy. Tallman didn’t speak until we were far away.
“The Principal wants to see me?” I giggled and he finally got it. “Well thanks for helping me out. I’m Lucas. I just moved here from Jamaica.” “Lauren,” I returned and since he was new showed him the way to the garden. I love plants and enjoy watching them turn from tiny seeds into plants and trees. It’s a miraculous process and I enjoy being a part of their life cycles. I am trusted with keys to the entire garden and nursery so I show him everything. The fruit trees, the vegetable garden and the new lake full of playful fishes. Lucas was impressed. Then I showed him the ultimate prize. The rose garden. It was a pure and satisfying luxury which our school boasted about often.
I showed him all the roses and I even told him the special names I had for them. He seemed reliable and trustworthy and I felt unreasonably pulled to speak to him. Unfortunately, for me and for my poor roses, I forgot to lock the gate. I was busy staring at Lucas when we heard the first shout. I was still puzzled when Lucas grabbed my hand and made for the shed I had opened to do a quick maintenance check. He locked the door behind us and whispered “It’s them.”
Lucas held my hand while we watched them pointlessly destroy everything. Nature is so beautiful yet here were a pack of humans before me who seemed to share a singular appetite for mindless destruction. They never found us, but the security guards found them and they were all in serious trouble. I really wanted to regret all my decisions that led to this, but Lucas interrupted my thoughts and offered to help me replant them all. I couldn’t help, but smile.

I think Lauren and Lucas would make a cool couple! 😍How do you rate their chemistry?
I wrote this type of story because when I read 'mindless' I immediately thought about 'mindless violence'.
Do you think the mindless of the gang's violent behaviour was obvious?
Did you see how Lucas returned her favour?
I think Lucas left a weak first impression since he had to be rescued. I like Lucas though. 😊
What kind of punishment should these delinquents get?
