We ended up on a wild meadow far away from the celebrations each of us holding a bottle of sparkling wine in their hands.

Her delicate hand gracefully hold her bottle of alcohol as she took another sip of her alcohol. I could not stop looking at her as each of her movements took my breath.

The soft grass below me and the warmness of the alcohol within my veins made me sleepy but also loosened my tongue.

I could have listened to her soft voice for hours as she talked about her year helping out in a project about street art to get kids interested in art again. I loved the passionate sparkle in her eyes as she got all hyped up while talking about the kids.

„Could it be that you wanna study art someday?", I asked her and she got all giggly like I just told the best joke ever.

„No, Jo. I actually wanna study social work and get a project like that going here."

Impressed I stared at her, she was so young and yet had so big plans for her future.

„Wow, you have such great plans. I am barely living my life studying politics and genealogy", now she was the one looking impressed.

„Are you kidding me? That's so cool," now she was the one who couldn't stop staring. I chuckled and looked down embarrassed.

As our conversation moved on we both got seemingly drunker and the evening turned into a starry night. I laid back into the freshly cut grass and watched the stars, Lou next to me did the same.

„It's so beautiful," she muttered, she spoke about the stars.

I can't recall how long we laid next to each other in silence and looked up into the sky. Although we didn't interact with each other I felt very comfortable. We could have laid there forever in my opinion.

„Are you asleep yet?" she whispered and I shook my head.

„No," I said quickly because I wasn't sure if she saw my head movement. I heard her lively chuckle.

„Me neither," she managed to say in between waves of laughter, which were so contagious that I started to laugh as well.

For the first time in a while, I felt relaxed and free and happy.

I can't remember how long we laughed, but it had to be way after midnight before we even thought about turning back to the wedding celebrations we escaped earlier.

„You looked so happy as a flower girl," I said as we got up and started walking back. She smiled.

„I was. I just like flowers and weddings," Lou sounded like she was lost in thoughts. Her eyes looked dreamy ahead of us and she played with her hair.

„Here," handing her a cornflower I just picked: „it matches your hair."

Her smile deepened even more.

„Thanks."

"Where are you going to Iive while studying?" I tried to cover up my embarrassment by asking some random questions.

„I didn't find anything so it looks like I'll be at home and ride the train every morning," she sounded sad.

„You could stay with me, I have plenty of room in my apartment because the person I used to share it with just moved out."

Louisa smiled bright and hugged me.
