I woke up... I woke up cold and in an unfamiliar room. It was dark, and I was so so scared. I tried to open my mouth, but hurt to try to try, making me fling my hands up to my face. My... My mouth was sewn shut. I frantically looked around, seeing two others in the room. One was wearing a shirt with an eye on it, crossed out. The other had a similar shirt, but with an ear crossed out. I quickly looked at my own shirt, to find that it too had something crossed out, a mouth. I started to panic, but I couldn't make any noise, and my eyes were filling with tears from pure panic.
And then the one with the crossed out ears shot up, looking around strangely as well. He looked around, before spotting me and looking horrified. "Stay away!" He screamed at me. I quickly fell back, only to notice when I did, he was shot forward. I shook, scared, only to notice he was growing more confused by the moment. "I can't... Hear my own voice." He stated. "You! What's my name!" He shouted at me. I gestured to my mouth. "Pah... Figures. Can't respond even if I needed you too." He growled.
"Shut up! I'm trying to sleep!" The last kid finally spoke, sitting up and opening her eyes. God, now everyone was panicking, this... This was a mess.
"Okay, okay." The deafened boy was the first to calm down. "You can see?" He asked, to which I nodded. "But she can't." I hesitantly nodded again. "So you two will have trouble communicating, just like.... Me and her. Cuz I can't hear." The blind girl calmed, listening carefully and nodding. "We'll have the most trouble, understanding you because you can't talk at all, and there's nothing to write with or on." He reasoned. I fidgeted, nodding.
God... God I was stuck in my own head, and couldn't say anything but yes or no? The thoughts overwhelmed me, and I started to spiral again. Then he grabbed my arm again. "No. Don't panic yet." He stated sternly. "Anybody here remember anything."
"No." The girl answered simply, smoothing out her skirt and shaking her head to be thorough. I paused, concentrating for any memory....
And I got one. One of us. Faint, but still there. I nodded quickly. "Good! Tell u-" He started. "Fuck. You can't say." He growled. "We need... To find a way out. Any clues yet." I nodded, tugging my hand forward. The blinded girl's got tugged back.
"Oh.... Nice work, Mute." The blinded girl said, going to pat my back. The deafened boy was flung back by her attempt to get close to me. I quickly grabbed her hand, terrified of being left alone in this state. I stood, and she stood with me. "What's your plan, dear?" She asked, walking with me. It didn't tug her or me back... If were both moving then... I watched as it clicked for her too. "Ingenious, my dear!" She spoke, eyes glinting in the light. "Lovely, lovely, lovely! Get the boy's attention, won't you?" She told me, to which I used my other hand to wave him over. He grumbled and got up.
"What?" He spoke. I waved my hand at him, trying to grab his hand. He smacked it away. "Ew, don't touch me." He grumbled. He earned a fierce glare from the girl holding my other hand though, and quickly complied. "Ugh... Now what."
I hesitated, unsure. I started to walked to the farthest corner of the room, them following my lead due to the hand holding. It got hard to walked.
"Are you sure this is gonna work?" He shouted. I nodded, though admittedly I didn't know.
"I believe in you." The girl spoke, my face warming up at her praise. It was an odd feeling to be complimented... I continued to walk, almost there... Then something clicked, and whatever was holding us back let go, causing us all to lurch forwards and through the corner.
"You're stronger together." A voice boomed, but also wrote on the ground in front of us, for the boy I think.
"In the next chapter, you must figure out your names." It informed. I swallowed, scared... Oh no. What was going to happen...
