It was after dinner, and Kayden was exhausted from pretending to be in love with the Selected. Sure they were nice, and he enjoyed their company, but... He didn't love them like that...

He sighed as he walked down the halls on his way to his room. There was only one that he loved, but his father would never approve of their marriage since, well, they weren't even human, that didn't matter though. Tonight would be the night he confessed.

The prince opened his door, and his eyes lit up a bit at seeing his one true love. The Wall. He always felt better when he saw them.

"Hey," he said as he walked over to them.

The Wall, as usual, said nothing. Kayden had figured out pretty quickly that they weren't a big talker. Sometimes though, he swore he could hear them whispering to him.

He engaged in small talk for a little while. Commenting on the weather, talking about what had eaten that day, and such. He then took a deep breath before bringing up what he really wished to talk about that evening.

"So, today was a pretty rough day," Kayden told them. Even if The Wall didn't talk, they were still a great listener. "The Selected were being extremely nice, but, you know how I feel or rather, don't feel about them," he continued.

The Wall was silent, so Kayden proceeded to speak.

"It's just... I love someone else... You know?" Kayden said softly. "They, uh, they're always there for me... They're pretty quiet, but they support me and really this whole palace," he added with a slight laugh.

   The Wall said nothing.

"Heh, okay, yeah, that was lame," Kayden said a bit nervously. "Sorry," he apologized, sounding a little sheepish. "Um, but anyway, what I'm trying to say is that... I love you." There. He had said it. He had confessed his feelings.

The Wall was quiet but seemed to grow a bit warmer to Kayden even though that was just his own body heat.

"Do you feel the same way about me...?" he asked hesitantly.

The Wall didn't reply, so Kayden took that as a yes.

He laughed a bit nervously and had a slight smile on his face. "I- Uh, wow..." he said in disbelief. "I didn't expect that..." he told them.

No response from The Wall, so Kayden decided to move forward.

"Um... Can I kiss you?" he asked, a light pink dusting his cheeks as he looked at the wall shyly. "I know it's a little fast, so just tell me no if I can't."

The prince waited for a few seconds, waiting for The Wall to say no. He really wanted to kiss them but would respect their wishes if they didn't want to.

After no answer, Kayden leaned in slowly and gently pressed his lips against The Wall. It was a soft kiss. It was sweet and simple, yet filled with so much love.

Kayden pulled away after a couple of minutes and smiled softly at The Wall. He just lovingly gazed at them for a little while before speaking once more.

"I love you..." he said, meaning every syllable with his entire heart. With those words, he settled down beside The Wall and fell asleep cuddled against them.
