I ran frantically around my room looking for my black vans. Where could they be? On the way to my closet, I tied my hair up with a scrunchie and painted my lips red with my Wet & Wild lipstick. Ah! Found them. Today was an extra special day. I was meeting up with my best childhood friend, Robin Buckley.

---

The smell of clothes and pretzels brought me into the Starcourt Mall. It was truly the best mall in Indiana. I moved out of Hawkins a few years ago and haven't seen Robin since although we keep in touch through the house phone.

I made a right into Scoops Ahoy, Robin's summer job. I passed a teenage boy with brown curly hair sitting with a little girl with a snappy attitude. Ice cream galore.

I recognized Robin's short blonde hair and a smile grew across my face. White waving and running towards her, she returned my smile.

"Robin!-"

A teenage boy cut infront of Robin and greeted me at the counter.

"Ahoy ladies, uhm I mean, lady. Ready to set sail on this ocean of flavor? I'll be your captain, I'm Steve Harrington."

I giggled. He was absolutely adorable.

"Well hello, Steve." I said playfully, "My name is Y/N"

He ran his fingers through his fluffy, light brown hair. "Well, Y/N, what can I get you? Cherry jubilee? Banana boat?"

I laughed. "I'm actually here for Robin."

Steve's smile quickly turned upside down. "She's just not into you, dingus." Robin said while pushing him behind her.

Steve aggressively threw on his sailor's hat and pouted in the corner.

---

After hours of talking and fooling around during Robin's shift, I decided I should get home in time for dinner.

"Bye Robin!" I said while giving her a tight hug. "I'll be back soon."

I gave Steve a playful smile and pushed my hair behind my ears. "Bye Steve"

"Wait!" He yelled as I walked away. I turned my head in confusion. "Yes?"

He handed me a plastic container with cotton candy ice cream, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, and hot sauce shaped in a heart. "For the road" He said.

My heart melted a bit. "Thanks" I said while smiling.

"Don't forget a napkin" He said while slipping me one on the counter.

Written on it was his number.
