Chapter 20: When You Play Your Cards Right

Kody's P.O.V.

We pulled up to a run-down looking house. The house looked vacant with the roof on one side caving in and the siding falling off.

Dad gets out of the car and I follow. We slowly walk up to the house. Dad gestures me to go the the back as he goes through the front. I obliged.

As I crept into the backyard, I could see inside the basement window Lumine. He was tied down with a gun to the head. He had his mouth tied up too.

I couldn't believe it.

I slowly open the door and walk inside. When I shut the door I hear the cocking of the pistol next to my head.

"Going somewhere?"

Lumine's P.O.V.

I look around  the room as the guards closely watch me, making sure that I don't escape again. I hear the footsteps of another person coming down the stairs. The door opens to see a gusty holding a unconscious Kody.

My heart sank. I felt horrible to have gotten him involved, but I also felt loved that he'd come to save me.

'I hope Aidens with him.'

The door closes while the guards tie Kody down. He's still unconscious which makes me wonder if he had tried to use magic. If he had then who knows the consequences.

Aiden's P.O.V.

I walked into the front door, and quietly closed it behind me. I quickly went to find Elijah and Calla.

I walk into a room with a half lit light and a cage. I know it's them so I grab the cage and go to find Lumine.

I run across the hall to check that room. Nothing. When I get out I hear noise coming from the basement, so I decide to check there next.

I open the basement door and crept through. The room has a faint smell of blood. I look around to see Lumine tied up with...Kody?! I guess that they got him too.

I wait until the guards aren't looking and proceed to knock them out with a spell. They immediately fall to the floor.

I run up to Kody and untie him. Once he is untied, I ask him to untie Lumine.

Kody's P.O.V.

I woke up tied up next to Lumine. I see dad run up to me and begin to untie me. While he unties me, he looks, I don't know...kind of upset and frustrated, but I brush it off.

After he unties me, I run up to Lumine to untie him. First I take off the tape covering his mouth. I hear him pant.

"T-Thank you Kody." He says out of breath.

"No problem babe." I smile at him while I untie his hands and feet.

Once he's free he hugs me, and I accept it. I hug him back.

"Ok we don't have much time grab on!" Dad says, gesturing to grab his hand. Both me and Lumine grab his hand as we are teleported to the car.

We all get into the car as fast as we can. Me and Lumine begin to buckle up while Aiden pulls out of the driveway, onto our way home.
