First Date

As Colby drove us back to the trap house we sung along to songs including gone and blue roses by Kat, "you really do have an amazing voice y/n" he looked over at me and smiled before turning back to face the road "yeah right and how would you know, Colby we are listening to music in your car, the actual song is playing that is what you can hear" I laughed and turned down the music so we could hear each other better "no it is not y/n, Sam agrees too, he said he has not heard you sing properly since you were in Kansas" Colby turned right down the road and pulled into a lay by "Colby why have you stopped?" I asked looking around to see if I recognised where we were "y/n Sam and I heard you singing to Kat, you have the most beautiful voice ever, and your the prettiest and kindest girl ever." He took my hand and smiled at me while looking me in the eyes "you and Sam heard me singing?" I asked Colby, I had not sung in front of anyone since my Dad passed away, music was always our thing. We would always sing with each other and our favourite song was skinny love, he got shot when a gang broke into our house, he got shot right in front of me. I had nightmares every night for 3 years of my Dad getting shot, but one day they just stopped, Sam was the only person I had ever told about how my Dad died, my Mother never told anyone because of how upset it left her, she has never had another relationship she wants to stay loyal to my Dad till death like in their vows.

"Yes Sam and I heard you singing, you are so talented, I bet Kat would love to do a collaboration with you in a song and I bet so would many of my other musical friends like Mike, Aryia and even Jake" he cradled my hands in his, the coldness of his rings sent a shiver down my spine. "I doubt it, but if they did I would have to think about it" I looked up and met Colbys eyes they were glistening with joy.

"Could you maybe sing for me? right now no song just you?" I took a deep breath in I even said no to my Mother when she had asked me to sing for her, but I trusted Colby "Colby I have not sung in front of anyone apart from Kat for years" my hands started to shake as the image of my Dad came rushing back into my mind, Colby grabbed my hands as I looked up at him "You do not have to do not worry" he said reassuringly, but he had told me about his Dad so I could at least sing for him "No no no it is fine, what do you want me to sing?" I looked over to Colby as he let go of my hand to change gear, "How about ocean eyes?" He asked turning to face me and grabbing my hand again "sure" I took a deep breath in and started singing:
