"PLEASE, STOP THIS, you can't do that," Elijah whispered harshly.

"But-" Britney tried to speak.

"You are gonna ruin everything," he said silencing her.

Ruin what? I tried hard to focus on their conversation, the alcohol making it difficult.

I heard footsteps approaching and saw an unfamiliar silhouette walking into one of the rooms, cutting off any further discussion.

"You need to leave," Elijah spoke again. This time with an authoritative tone. I carefully walked back to the washroom as Britney passed by me but I saw tears rolling down her cheeks.

I wanted to go and talk to her but knew she needed space. I slowly came out after a while, acting as if I had just come out of the closed province.

The alcohol made me wobble as I walked down the hall that led to the pool. I gulped down another shot of tequila from the counter, my throat burning as the liquid made its way to the pit of my stomach.

I was officially drunk.

"Heyya William!" I yelled grabbing everyone's attention, especially William's, whose eyes widened at my action.

He started coming towards me but Jaxon came first.

"You okay?" He asked worriedly, "Who's William you're calling for?"

"He's right behind you, see!" I pointed like a child showing what she wanted for Christmas.

William just stood there with a look that said, 'You're wasted.'

"I don't see anyone, Ab-"

"Yeah, yeah, you can't," I started, but William came out of thin air and pulled me away.

"See, he's pulling me!"

Jaxon just stared at me, questioning himself if he was imagining things. Alcohol can do that to you. I thought if I was drunk since the night I met William. That will explain why I see him. I snorted at my own thoughts.

"Don't worry about me, I will be fine!" I said when I saw Jaxon coming.

"Text me when you're home!" He shot back. I nodded before looking ahead at the dark streets, illuminated with dimly lit lamp posts.

I stared at the defined shoulders of William who was still pulling me. Snatching my hands, I stood still on the ground.

"Stop manhandling me."

"I wasn't man-"

"Say sorry," I blurted out. I needed to stop. William just looked at me with amusement twinkling in his eyes.

"Sorry," he said, "Now let's go, you're completely wasted. I wouldn't have left your side if I knew-"

I cut him off as I hugged him, surprising both of us with the sudden gesture. I felt him stiffen but I continued hugging him. He was so comfy.

"Rose, you're drunk," he spoke softly, taking my hands off him. I felt rejected.

"Fine," I huffed angrily.

"Come on, you can hug me," my ear spiked up as he said that, "when you're sober."

"Yeah, no."

This cunning fox knew I would be embarrassed about this in the morning. But the night is still young.

"No?"

He seemed baffled by my answer but nevertheless amused.

"Is there something on my face?"

"No, you're just adorable when you're drunk."

"Hey! I ain't drunk!" I clearly knew I was since I never use 'ain't'.

"Sure," he just muttered as we walked along the lonely streets.

"I can't walk anymore," I pouted like a child stomping my feet on the road. William just stood there staring at my stupid form.

"Fine," he finally spoke after what seemed like ages.

"Fine, what?"

"I will give you a piggy ride?" He asked, questioning my sudden mood swings.

"Really?!" I said brightening up like a bulb.

"Hop on, before I change my decision."

He didn't have to finish his sentence as I jumped on his back making him 'oomph'.

"Hey, I'm not that heavy," I said as I steadied myself.

"Well, you aren't, just a warning would have been better," he said, straightening his form as he started walking down the street.

My eyes were drooping low as the cool breeze caressed me. My dress hiked up higher, as William continued with his long strides, my skin burning from where he held me.

"And we're here," William announced as he quietly unlocked the door with the keys from my purse and made his way upstairs. Did he teleport? The walk seemed to end too soon. I barely made out Aristotle and Trixie sleeping on the couch.

"The door to the right?"

"Yep," I groggily answered, my face brushing up his hair causing it to tickle. I sniffed him which was like peppermint but a faint scent of antiseptic lingering.

He dropped me gently on my bed, the springs squeaking as my body fell on it.

"I will knock at your parents' door. They will be assured you're home," he said as he moved away from the hairs on my face.

All of a sudden, I felt broken. Broken and hurt from hearing that. I missed them so much.

"Hey, Rose, what happened Flower?" William asked softly, but my heart was breaking.

Why was he not a person? Why a spirit?

Still, I said to him, something I wouldn't have said if I was sober,

"Will, the-they are not my parents. My parents are- they are dead."

He just looked at me, a sudden sadness overcoming him but he kept silent. My eyelids were getting heavier with the passing seconds.

"You won't leave me like them, will you?"

The last thing I remembered before falling asleep was William kissing my forehead as he spoke slowly,

"No, Rose, I'm gonna be with you. Always."

I never felt so content when he said that. I might just have a crush. On a Spirit.
