'Daddy, daddy, you bastard, I'm through.'

Wow.

The last line of the poem 'Daddy' by Sylvia Plath blew me away. I know it doesn't make much sense when you read only the poem but it'd definitely move you if you know her story.

At times like these, I'm grateful that I'm doing a post-graduation course in English. It made me read and know things about poets and authors that I'd otherwise skip.

Stretching my arms, I relaxed a little. Just then, a message flashed on my mobile. I lazily picked it up and smiled when I saw the WhatsApp text.

Gracey beastie- what you doin?

I decided to chat with her for some time- Just took a study break wbu?

Gracey beastie- sameeee i'm tired of studying!

I cocked an eyebrow at that- Your first letters are small

The reply came within a second- so?

Me- You're using your laptop

I could picture her rolling her eyes while replying- so?

Me- So that means you aren't studying

Her- wth what kind of logic is that?!

Me- It's the truth! Ik you aren't studying.

Her- i'm studying! I mean I was studying until I texted you!

Me- I don't buy it.

Her- get lost

Before I could reply, I got another text from her which only made me smirk.

Her- anyways, I HAVE A GREAT NEWS FOR YOU! OUR WISH FINALLY CAME TRUE!

I decided to bait her- Aha! What wish and what's it?

The reply was almost instant- so there is this new gadget... it basically removes anything that you have read from your brain!

"BLIMEY!" I shouted when I read her text. Unaware of my reaction at the other side of her screen, she continued typing. -It's still in the development stages though and it got launched recently. Its available on amazon! I'm sending you the link to the video

Me- What the hell are you planning to do with it? Delete all that you studied for your engineering exams after you're done with them?

Her- nah, they're all stored in temporary files so they get deleted on their own... I'm talking about NOVELS Sel! NOVELS! Remember how we wished to read our favorite stories again for the first time??? Imagine being able to do that now!

My eyebrows reached my hairline reading that. I called her immediately.

"Are you freaking serious?" I screeched the moment she picked up the call.

"Of course, I am", she answered smugly, "I told you its available on Amazon at a reasonable price! I've read the reviews too and they say it's great. I've also watched the YouTube videos about it and I've even scanned their website thoroughly. It's all genuine. Besides, I'm an engineer to be. I've got techno-instincts and I also have a good feeling about this thing."
