"I just don't know", you sighed to your moirail Tavros. "I really like Karkat, but I just don't think he feels the same way about me."

"uHHH, wHY DONT YOU, tALK TO HIM, tELL HIM HOW YOU FEEL,,,"

You covered your face with your hands. "I guess I should. I feel so guilty being flushed for him for so much time without saying anything, especially considering how sweet he is to me about-- you know." You actually self harmed, and that news had spread among the trolls causing most of them to shun you. Karkat, however, had never treated you in the poor way that the others had, and instead he had cared for you and talked to you even on your darkest nights when your whole world was falling apart. He could always make you smile, even when it seemed like you would never smile again. And slowly but surely you had fallen in love with him. Tavros had tried his best to help you, but he simply couldn't cheer you up in the same way that Karkat could.

You shook your head to clear your thoughts. "I'll do it, Tav. I'm going to do it. Im going to finally and actually tell him how I feel." Your heart skipped a beat just thinking about it. What if he returned the same feelings towards you...?

No! You couldn't allow yourself to think like that, because then the pain of rejection when it did come, as you knew it would, would be too much for your already sad, broken heart.

"[Y/N]", Tavros said, once again jostling you from your thoughts. He put a gentle hand on your cheek, lifting up your head to face him. "yOURE GONNA DO GREAT,,, i JUST KNOW YOU WILL,,,"

You sighed. "Thanks, Tav. I should probably go do that now before I talk myself out of it, it's going to be dark soon anyway." You stood up from the park bench where you had been sitting and walked off in the direction of your hive, meaning to talk to Karkat on Trollian before simply showing up at his house.

"gOOD LUCK!" Your moirail called after you. You grimaced to yourself, thinking that you wouldn't have good luck, you wouldn't have good luck at all. You would get rejected, and then you would have nothing to live for anymore. You had researched how many Ibruprofen pills it would take to kill you, and you were ready if worst came to worst.

Reaching your hive, you immediately got on your husktop and began talking to Karkat. Jegus, he was so adorably sweet and shouty. After briefly chatting, you asked him if you could come over to his hive that evening to talk to him about something.

A little shiver ran down your spine at the sight of that heart. He probably just meant it in a friendly way, you told yourself as you changed into f/c jeans and a tshirt with your favorite singer on it. You slipped on your fdc jacket and old, scuffed boots and made the short walk to Karkat's hive. Reaching it, you knocked on the door and we're almost instantly let inside by the short, loud, stubby-horned troll.

"HEY FUCKASS", he said as he enveloped you in a tight hug. "HOW'S LIFE?"

You allowed yourself a small smile. "Really fucking shitty. But that's not what I came here to tealk to you about."

"WHAT THEN."

You looked down at your feet. "I may be sort of flushed for you." You allowed yourself a quick glimpse at his adorable face. His jaw was hanging wide open. "I mean, I get it. I'm sort of a terrible person, and I understand that you don't feel the same-" tears formed in your eyes. You didn't mind crying in front of Karkat, you'd done it many times before. Yet you were still slightly embarrassed by it. Then his arms were around you, and he was holding you close and somehow with a passion you hadn't felt before. He guided you over to the couch and sat down next to you, still holding you in the same tight embrace.
