Scarlett's pov~~~~~~~~
a while ago, i had convinced papa to allow shella and i to ditch the kimonos. so now i am relishing in the newfound freedom of wearing casual clothes around the house. currently i am my male counterpart, Storm, and i'm at the lake. it around nine im the morning. with the mist just starting to clear out. i had decided about an hour ago that i would go for a swim. not as a human or fish though, but as a merman.
i don't think anyone had noticed, but i usually have a schedule of when i and what gender. but as of yesterday, i couldn't control when i am what gender. sometime im half and half. my hair becomes short like i'm a guy, my chest shrinks and i lose some curve. during those times people usually can't tell if im male or female.
i strip down until im naked. my rather large male genitalia out in its full glory, i slowly walk into the water until i can't touch the ground without going under. i continue to swim out a little further. then i turn into a half fish.
at first i still had legs as dark blue scales started to cover my ribs, and parts of my collar bone, face, and legs. then my legs started to fuse together, as the bones in the turned thin and more sprouted from previous ones. this addin many more places for the forming tail to bend, and make it more flexible. the muscles on the tail bulked it up quite a bit, in order to allow me to propel yourself forward. fins growing in between my fingers, and my ears turning to find as well. and finally, gills formed on my ribs, where the scales were. leaving my toned belly, arms, chest and neck my regular tan skin.

like this but hair is short, and white. and eyes are dark blue. ^
i then went back to the surface and looked around. seeing if anyone was there. i was met with shella walking onto the dock with my clothes from earlier looking worried. "storm! where are you!?" she called out. mu almost not hearing her because i was halfway to the middle of the lake.
going back under to get momentum, i swim as fast as this tail can take me and break the surface once more. after going back under once more, i swim towards the dock, and get there significantly faster now that i have the tail. by head breaks the surface and i look up. "i'm down here." i state in a cool voice. she looked down and saw the fins on the side of my head.
" are you like....a merman or something?" she questioned. "yes." i deadpanned. "oh. well that's new." she points out. " why not a mermaid? don't they do the same thing?" she interrogates.
i go back under and get momentum before i jump out and catch myself on the dock. using my strong arms to support my weight as i drag myself to sit down. " no they don't. a female mermaid, a siren, can't control water willingly like a merman. sirens can sing to lure people into the water, and the only time the water can be manipulated by them, is when the are trying to go faster than usual. a merman can control any liquid at will, and talk to aquatic animals. also they cant stay out of water for more than an hour because they lung don't develop fully. unlike the siren, they need lungs to be able to sing in the air, and can go on land for days at a time. besides, i'm stuck like this for a while." i explain in Japanese. after i have been tutoring my sister, she picked it up pretty fast.
after the first two months i told everyone to only speak Japanese unless she was having a super hard time with understanding. and now after about 10 months, she can fluently speak Japanese. i get back in the water to take a breath. " you wanna join me?" i ask. she only says that she can't swim and shakes her head. " that's fine, i can teach you. and if you wanna go under for a while i can give you an air bubble." i reason. again she shakes her head.
after a lot of convincing she say yes reluctantly. "do you have a bathing suit i can wear?" she asked. "yea, i have one from last year you can wear. its black with lemons on the bralet piece, and just plain black swimming shorts. when you first enter my room it's in the bedside table in the second drawer." i explain to her.
she leaves, so i head under the pier. swimming around in the grass i spot a group of three very large koi. i play with them for a while. i would make air bubbles and send them toward the fish, and they would pop them. i wouldn't make them strong. after a little more playing i sit on the bed of the lake and asked them "how are you my friends?" to which one replied with "good...the humans have not....feed us yet...though." he said with bubbled blowing up between his words. to anyone else they wouldn't have heard a thing.
i hear footstep from above say goodbye to the friendly koi. i pop my head out of the surface to see my sister in a bathing suit. her stomach more tone now, though she didn't have abs like me. her brown skin glistening in the noon sun. "you ready?" i ask knowing her answer already. " as ready as i'll ever be." she stated as she pulled out her hair tie and let her natural waves frame her pretty face.
she continued by going to the edge of the dock and putting her feet in. she then turned around and supported herself with her arm as she lowered into the water. i swam up behind her and grabbed her. i then pulled her out a little further, still holding her above the water. she started to panicked a little at first but calmed soon after i stopped,
" now kick your feet back and forth. and wave your hands in the water. but stay relaxed." i explained, moving my tail to kind of demonstrate. she did so and i let go with one webbed hand. she immediately stopped and grabbed a hold of me. " don't let go! ill sink and die!" she exclaimed. fear laced in her voice. "you wont die, i'm right here. besides i can give you an air bubble." i reasoned with her. " still don't let go till i say." she demanded. i only gave a nod.
she slowly started kicking again. she nodded at me to let go of her after about 20 minutes. she dropped a little, but then leveled with her head above water. "look! storm i'm not drowning!" she exclaimed in excitement. she stopped kicking for a minute. going under the surface. so i follow and pull her back up quickly.
" you cant stop moving or you'll sink shella." i remind her. she nods and starts moving again. after a minute i let go again. she continued to kick and stay floating in the water. i could tell she was having trouble though, so i stayed close. "i'm gonna go under and watch for a minute." i announced as i went under.
i swam a few circles around her before i came back up. "good, now we work on actually moving. we are gonna start out easy, the doggy paddle. so you kick your feet out behind you to make you go forward. then to steer yourself use your hands to paddle like thins." i showed her as best i could. " ok. ill try my best!" she told me before trying herself. i swam under the water and watched from there as she swam in a circle.
i came up again when she stopped. " now we are gonna try underwater. ill make an air bubble for you. but firs ill explain this first. when you go under you have to hold you breath for a second, because i wont always be able to make you an air bubble. and when you want to move, make bigger kicks, and use your hands to steer." i alliterated to her. she nodded as she sucked in a deep breath, then went under. i followed close after. after a moment of her being suspended in water i made her a medium sized air bubble.
she took in a large breath and spoke. thanks for that. i can see clearly and breath again now." she stated. i could hear her fine. though if it were another person they wouldn't be able to. i made her bubble larger to fit me in to. "swim back to the bank, its almost time for you final class before U.A. i already finished mine. come back later one your finish if i'm still here." i command as i leave before she responds. i use the water to push her slightly and she starts moving o her own.
i follow after her as i keep her from drowning. once she gets to the shore, she walks out on the docks to grab her stuff. wrapping herself in a towel she thanks me before heading off down the path.
