On top of Mount Olympus lived Zeus and his family. His youngest daughter, Chloe, was useless to him. She didn't have any powers, or so they thought. Poor Chloe, she did everything she could to gain her father's attention. She even went and told the humans to keep believing in the Gods. Nothing worked.

On one special try to get her father's attention, she broke his favorite lightning bolt. "What did you do?! You know not to play with my lightning bolts! I've lost that and have a useless daughter! What are the odds." Zeus was so furious, all the other Gods had to hide to escape his rath.

Chloe was tired of being ignored. Finally she got up the courage and ran away in the middle of the night. It was still pretty light because Zeus was still mad. She ran-ran as fast as she could. When she became to tired, she found a cave to stay in. When she sat down, the tears came. They kept coming until she was sure there was no more water in her.

"I'm just a big failure!" She wailed. "Why couldn't I just have a stupid power? At least then father would notice me! Why?"

When she was done she looked around. She was all alone! What was she thinking when she left? "I should've brought a blanket. It's really cold. And lonely."

When she realized she really didn't want to be all alone, she searched the cave. She found some clay and decided to mess around with it. She sculpted a medium sized block into a beast with floppy ears and a lolling tong.

"Hmm. I seem to be good at sculpting. Who cares though? If father doesn't, no one does." She kept making figures in the clay. Then, her eyes drew heavy, and she fell asleep.

What she didn't know was while she slept, the figures came alive! The first figure she made came up to her sleeping form and licked her face. She woke up feeling comforted.

"What? How did this happen?" I asked them.

"You created us! Oh thank you!"the one that woke her said.

        "What are you?" I questioned.

"You get to name us! So, what are we?" It answered.

"Well you could be a. . . dog? I guess."

"So, is this where we have to stay?" The dog asked.

"No. I can go home now! Father will be so pleased!"

So Chloe and the beings walked back up to Mount Olympus. Chloe was so happy, she had a bounce in her step. When they got home, her father was frantic.

"Where did she go?! Where is Chloe?"

"Father! I've come home!" She called to him.

"Chloe! Where we're you? You had me worried!"

"I thought you didn't care about me because I was useless. You were always harder on me than the others. I thought you were tired of me so I left."

"Oh Chloe. I knew you weren't useless. That's why I was hard on you! Your power would only come out when you needed it to. I had to do what I did so that you would develops your power to create. You are special." That was the first time her father praised her. "Now, I think you have to talk to the humans about these things. By the way, what are they?"

        "They are animals."

So she went down the mountain and showed the humans her creations. She taught them how to treat them and love them. They started chanting her name, and it was official. She was now where she belonged.
