Bella Swan
I crouch down, carefully stalking the large mountain lion, stalking its own prey. Wow, a predator stalking a predator. Life works strangely. I look up. The massive gold lion is staring at me, about to pounce. Too late, say goodbye. I leap at the lion, feeling it claw at me. Its claws caress my skin like light feathers. You should thank me for saving your life, little mountain lion's prey. I snap the mountain lion's neck and it screamed and thrash around before it lay limp. My fangs pierce the thick skin of the mountain lion. I feel the blood flowing down and into my dry, thirsty throat.
After a few minutes, the mountain lion was sucked dry. Quickly, I buried its dead body before I hear another person breathing. I try and sense where the breathing came from. 100 yards in front, in the bushes. All of a sudden, I realised. There's no heartbeat... Vampire?
My parents told me about vampires before. No heartbeat. Skin is cold and white as snow. Shines in the sunlight like diamonds. Some are from a large coven called the Volturi, their like the closest thing to royalty vampires have. Some have powers as I have. I have an impenetrable shield, mental and physical.
"Hello?" My voice echoes around the eerie forest. "My name is Isabella Marie Swan."
"Well, Isabella," the vampire interrupted, "You shouldn't go around the place telling everyone your name, you know."
I nod. Just come out, Vampire. I know what you are, no need to hide anymore.
"What are you doing here, in this dark, lonely forest, Isabella?"
"I'm doing what you were about to do. Hunt."
There was a long moment before I heard the vampire speak again.
"How did you know that?"
I shrug. "I am half of what you are. I just don't like eating human food." I waited. No reply. Strange, I can still hear him breathing. Why isn't he replying? "You can come out, you know. I know you're still there."
I hear the rustling of the leaves as he steps out into the clearing. I internally gasped. He is beautiful. I know vampires are supposed to look beautiful, but this one's beauty is astounding.
"Well, hello. I'm Edward Cullen."
