The final match of the Quidditch season, Gryffindor versus Ravenclaw, was to take place on the last weekend of May. Although Slytherin has been narrowly defeated by Hufflepuff in their match, Gryffindor were not daring to hope for victory, mainly due to Ron's abysmal goal-keeping record. However, Ron seemed to have a newfound confidence about him. "I mean, I can't get any worse, can I?" He told his friends as they walked down to the pitch in the midst of a very excitable crowd, "I think Ron might do better without Fred and George around. They never exactly gave him a lot of confidence." Hermione whispered to Mikayla who nodded agreeing with her friend.
Mikayla tuned out of her friends conversation, as she noticed a group of Slytherin's making fun of Luna as she walked past with an eagle hat that almost looked real. "Crinus Muto," Mikayla mumbled turn the group of Slytherins hair neon pink and styling it into mullets. Mikayla along a lot of surround students of the group starts laughing loudly at the sight. Harry, Mikayla and Hermione found seats in the second topmost row of the stands. The weather was perfect condition for Quidditch. Lee Jordan, who had been very dispirited since Fred and George had left, was commentating as usual. As the teams zoomed out on to the pitch he named the players with something less than his usual gusto.
".. Bradley... Davies... Chang," he called and Mikayla felt a twang of anger at the name of the Ravenclaw that is the reason behind her removal from Quidditch and Elites. Harry looked angrier than Mikayla, "you ok?" Mikayla whispered to her friend, "huh, oh yeah, I'm fine." Harry shrugged off the blondes question, Mikayla frowned slightly at the sight of her friend. "And they're off!" Lee announced as they kicked off from the ground. "And Davies takes the Quaffle immediately, Ravenclaw captain Davies with the Quaffle, he dodged Spinnet, he dodges Bell, he dodges Spinnet again!... He's going straight for the goal! He's going to shoot- and-and-" he swore very loudly, and as consequence, received a smacked from McGonagall, rolled parchment in her hand. "Sorry, Professor, he scored..." The entirety of the Gryffindor stands groaned. And, as expected, the Slytherin stands began another line of "Weasley is Our King".
Weasley cannot save a thing,
He cannot block a single ring . . ."How's Malfoy never gotten a song written about him? He can't catch a cold never mind the snitch." Mikayla fumed and glared over at him in the Slytherin stand. For a brief moment Mikayla considered setting the boy on fire with some wandless magic which gave herself a fright. Mikayla looked away from Malfoy and spotted Hagrid's enormous bearded face sticking between the seats. He must've squeezed his way all along the row behind, for the first and second years he had just passed had a ruffled, flattened look about them. Hagrid looked extremely anxious, "hullo, you three... Harry, Hermione, Mikayla..." His hoarse voice called from behind the friends. "Listen," he whispered, "can yeh come with me? Now? While ev'ryone's watchin' the match?" "Er... can't it wait, Hagrid?" Harry asked awkwardly. "Till the match is over?" "No," said Hagrid. "No," said Hagrid, "No, it's gotta be now... while ev'ryone's lookin' the other way... Please?" Mikayla raised her eyebrows at the tone of his voice. Taking her attention fully away from the game, she looked at him. There was blood dripping from his nose, he had two black eyes, and his whole body was almost visibly throbbing. She hadn't seen him from this close for some time, he hadn't been up to the castle since he returned. "'Course," Harry said, frowning " 'course we'll come..."
They all started shuffling out of their row, Harry first, then Mikayla, then Hermione. The people in their row stood up to make room but were vocal about their annoyance, grumbling as they slid past them. "I 'ppreciate this, you three, I really do," Hagrid expressed to them once they reached the stairs. He was acting very paranoid, looking around and behind himself often. "I jus' hope she doesn' notice us goin'..." "Do you mean Umbridge?" Mikayla asked looking towards the Teacher's Tower. "She won't notice, she's got her whole Inquisitorial Squad sitting with her, didn't you see? She must be expecting trouble at the match." Harry reassured him. "Yeah, well, a bit o' trouble wouldn' hurt," Hagrid said, glancing around the edge of the stands or anyone who might have been there in the stretch of land between them and his cabin "Give us more time..." "What is it, Hagrid?" Hermione asked, also growing anxious. Mikayla started to speed walk to catch up to him, as his strides were more than twice as long as hers.
"Yeh- yeh'll see in a mo'," He answered. A loud cheer sounded from the stands and his head whipped back to inspect, "Hey- did someone jus' score?" "It'll be Ravenclaw," Harry said solemnly. "Good... good..." Hagrid said, obviously distracted from the conversation. "Tha's good..." Soon the three students had to jog to keep up with Hagrid's rushed strides. When they reached his cabin, the girls turned toward his door, but Hagrid kept going int the edge of the forest. Hagrid picked up a crossbow that was propped up against a tree, he continued walking, but when he realized they were no longer right behind him, he turned to them. "We're goin' in here," he said, tossing his head toward to forest to indicate. "Into the forest?" Mikayla asked, the fear crept onto her face. "Yeah," Hagrid nodded. "C'mon now, quick, before we're spotted!"
They looked at each other, and Mikayla glanced back at the stands, just for comfort, then they all hurried to get under the shade of the trees and out of anyone's view. "Hagrid, why are you armed?" Harry asked. Hermione and Mikayla exchanged fleeting eyes. "Jus' a precaution," Hagrid answered, he shrugged casually, though the subject wasn't nearly as casual as his response. "You didn't bring your crossbow the day you showed us the thestrals," Hermione pointed out cautiously. Mikayla could see Hermione wasn't sure if she wanted to be right behind Hagrid for cover if anything were to go wrong or if she wanted to stay far back.
